2.0 out of 5 stars Maybe it's just me, but..., 16 Nov 2010

... this is the first book that, having bought, I haven't finished in a long, long time (got about 30% of the way through before deciding there's no point in reading it just because I've paid for it).

I'm reluctant to post this review given the praise heaped on it in the other reviews (at time of posting at least) but for me the author just doesn't cut it.

There's very little depth to the writing -- the characters aren't fleshed out properly and neither is their environment -- I was left feeling detached and uninterested.

2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointingly average., 7 Feb 2011

If I'd know this was "a merger of science fiction and Christian fiction" then I'd never have bought it. Although this book got off to what seemed like a promising start, it didn't last. For me, the minute it becomes clear that your hero will be fine because "God/Eidon" had it all planned out for him, and as soon as he accepts "God/Eidon" into his life everything will be alright then the story totally loses any sense of suspense or interest. I made myself finish it, but I certainly won't be buying any more in the series.

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Read - a page turner!, 4 Mar 2011
This was recommended to be by a fellow sci-fi/fantasy lover who had downloaded the first (free) book to her kindle and subsequently downloaded the second and third that night because she enjoyed it so much. Suffice to say that I have just done the same!

'The Light of Eidon' is well written and pleasant to read, styled to tell the story without stuffy dialogue or gratuitous prose. The core theme of the plot seems to be the protagonist's struggle with religion however, it is presented in a way that challenges and intrigues rather than in any way moralising.

Worth a download I think, I recommend it.
