Having bought a Lumix TZ7 and read the reviews about how it eats batteries, I thought it a good idea to get a spare. Like many other reviewers, I thought Panasonic was overcharging for its genuine replacements, and opted for the Lig0sh, based on the favourable reviews.
The good news:
The price is right.
It arrived very quickly.
It charged very quickly, using Panasonic's original charger.
The TZ7 accepted it without quibble.
It works.
The bad news:
After charging, I noticed that all the writing on the battery case had turned ash grey and was very difficult to read, which seems to indicate that the battery had overheated during charging. I had expected a two hour charge time, but on checking after only one hour, the charging light had already gone out. The battery was not then warm to the touch, and showed as fully charged when loaded into the camera, but it was a bit worrying that it might have got hot enough to burn off the white printing on its case.
At this point, I rated the product three stars.
The better news:
I emailed the seller asking for their opinion, and received an immediate reply, saying the battery may be faulty, and a replacement was on its way. The new one arrived post-haste, and included a pre-paid jiffy bag to return the faulty item. Excellent service from a firm obviously keen to keep their customers happy.
I have not yet had time to run the battery down with normal usage and to assess its longevity, but I have no reason to suspect it will not perform well, so have awarded five stars.
