Life in the Wild Blue Yonder 7 Aug 2013
By JoseF4 - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
This book provides a view to many interesting facets in US Air Force fighter pilot realms of training, combat, and survival situations. Almost immediately from the outset the reader is drawn into the cockpit and the view from this vantage point never enjoyed by anyone but the fighter pilot. Even though harrowing situations are addressed, you can appreciate the thrill of being in jet fighters in the day when the pilot had to know where he was, and without the benefit of current technology for navigation, avionics, or communication. From the perspective of flying combat in Korea and Vietnam, the reader can see that flying fighters may be "fun and exciting", but also dangerous, competitive, and educational. This is a book telling never-before-heard stories relating historical events as well as some previously unknown interesting facts, and many interesting well-documented flying accidents that modified future flight safety requirements. I thoroughly enjoyed every detail.

Life in the Wild Blue Yonder 28 Aug 2013

This was the first book that I have read by John Lowery, and I could not put it down, except for a few breaks, until I finished reading it. What insight, adventure, sadness, and reality it provided on the continuing evolution of aviation history and the Heroes along with their sacrifices that helped to make it all happen. It helped to me of remind of the profound respect that I have for all of our Military Heroes, both men and women, in all branches of the military.
I highly recommend this book, and look forward to reading the other books that John Lowery has written.Life In The Wild Blue Yonder: Jet Fighter pilot stories from the Cold War

Life in the Wild Blue Yonder 4 Sep 2013
By John C. Morrissey - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
John Lowery has finally written the book that many have attempted. A book that needed to be written. Many have tried and missed the mark. John succeeded. He has accurately captured and described the culture and persona of the American Fighter Pilot from 1950 until the end of the Cold War. His memoirs ring true and clear. Our failures and great successes of that era are well covered and frankly addressed. Those he mentions in his essays deserve their accolades. His work will leave a bitter sweet trail of poignant memories for those in that arena to reflect upon for the rest of their lives.

Good read and interesting facts. 27 Nov 2013

Well written and a interesting story. Found out about things that I did not know happened. How American POWs from the Korean and Vietnam wars were sent to China, the Soviet Union, and Cuba and we did nothing to get them back.
