Great show 4 May 2010
Format:DVD
This is a great show which cleverly explores the modern family; step parents and step-children. The Mum clearly loves all her children ('step' or not) and will go to any lengths to protect them, often leading to her downfall. Her ritual humiliation, often in front of the neighbours - who define the word, smug - is frequent and very funny. The whole cast is great, but I'd particularly single out Patrick Nolan (Ted) as a joy to watch - great timing and a real natural in front of the camera.

Life of Riley is funny, warm and charming and is a pleasure to watch with the whole family. Everyone from my Grandma to my eight year old nephew loves this show

Perfect Family Viewing 29 April 2010
By lucy
Format:DVD
The Life of Riley is perfect for watching as a family all together. There are jokes in there for all the family, and some of the slapstick elements are really laugh out loud hilarious. All the cast are brilliant, especially Caroline Quentin as Maddy and Patrick Nolan as Ted, and having just watched the second series on the BBC I really hope there is a third series produced.

This is the perfect family sitcom. It's got the humour of My Family but the family actually all like each other, classic jokes without any panto-type subtext that the whole family find funny, and some really likeable characters. Caroline Quentin is great as always, but the real gem is Neil Dudgeon who play Jim, his timing and affable congeniality is adorably hilarious. The second series is even funnier than the first - especially the 'Just the two of us' and 'Is she really going out with him' episodes.

What happened to real comedy?
This typifies modern BBC comedy. It is truly awful and predictable. I don't begrudge people liking it as everyone has different tastes but i do wonder whether people who have given... Read more

Riley's welcome to it!
On the face of things, 'Life of Riley' should be a decent sitcom. True, the 'sit' - two divorced parents marry and bring their kids together under one roof - has been done time and... Read more
