Book Description

Aug 2000
In Life on The Other Side, Sylvia Browne, New York Times bestselling author of The Other Side and Back, explores and explains the afterlife in this revealing and inspiring account. You will find out: What happens when we die; What The Other Side looks like; Who's waiting for us on The Other Side; How we spend out time on The Other Side; Why and how we return from The Other Side. With her trademark warm and down-to-earth style, Sylvia Browne's insights into the afterlife are utterly compelling yet wonderfully reassuring. Sylvia looks over her lifelong career as a psychic, using past experiences, readings, hypnosis sessions and research to illustrate her findings about The Other Side. For the very first time, we are shown an unprecedented view of a peaceful place where our departed loved ones are patiently awaiting us - and where the next leg of our eternal journey will begin. This book is absolutely unforgettable!

Amazon Review

Best-selling psychic Sylvia Browne offers a detailed account of life in heaven in Life On the Other Side. Readers should be warned that it takes a huge leap of faith to follow this celebrity psychic across the chasm of doubt to the Other Side. In her opening chapters she explains that she is like the young boy in the movie The Sixth Sense, she sees dead people. When she was a child these "spirits" came into her room at night and disappeared when a light went on. "To this day I can't sleep in a completely dark room, because the minute I try it the room starts filling up", she writes. "As a child, it was scary. As an adult, it's just annoying!"

Once she establishes her lengthy connections to life after death (including conversations with a spirit guide named Francine and her own near-death experience), Browne launches into life in the fourth dimension. In a chapter titled "After the Tunnel, Arriving on the Other Side", Browne explains that newcomers pass through a "Hall of Wisdom" and then review their most recent life through a "Scanning Machine". In the chapter "Beyond the Entrance", Brown claims that spirits live in whatever kind of home they've longed for, or they recreate a favourite home from Earth. Plus, "the more spiritually advanced we become, the more physical beauty we are given, as a badge of our progress and hard work". Sex is known as "merging", and does not require birth control or any commitments of exclusivity. These kinds of glowing accounts of the other side cause sceptics to sneer, believers to feel comforted and thousands of fans to keep on buying her books. --Gail Hudson

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't waste your money 30 Dec 2009
Ms Browne's books are amongst the worst on the market and to be avoided. I would recommend books by John Edward, Gordon Smith, Betty Shine, David Wells, Stephen O'Brian, Edgar Cayce, Jane Roberts if you are seeking confirmation that there is life beyond this one. I am afraid the world has been sucked in by the Syliva Browne bandwagon show cased on the Montel Williams show. I don't deny she knows her spiritual stuff but genuine she ain't. Save your money or if you have to read her use the library.

1.0 out of 5 stars embarrasing stuff 21 Oct 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
I find it hard to comprehend why anyone would take this lady seriously, not that i disbelieve in a continuation of consciousness after the physical has perished, au contraire, but this....this is fanciful, babyish hogwash, deeply unsophisticated stuff for unquestioning mind. Yuck.

Truly gives the whole field a bad name. Talk about cheesy.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not For Me 27 May 2009
My initial review for this was, upon re-reading, maybe a tad harsh. So I have made it less rant-ish and more tolerant.

We all have, and are allowed to have, our own opinions on things. And this will be mine.
And having said that I therefore respect the author's right to be able to write what she wants to.

But there are too many things about this book like the prose, the ideas, the subject matter, that do not make for it to be at all believable unfortunately.
Nuclear-powered hovering golf carts for transport? Scanning "machines"? Atlantis? These things sound like something out of a cheap `70's sci-fi flick to me, not heaven.

It seems though, that a number of reviewers have bought into it, and if it makes them feel better about what happens after lights-out then good for them, giving hope to someone is not a bad thing.
I just think that because life-after-death is such a major issue for a lot of people, readers need to be discerning about what is put in front of them as "fact".

That's it really, I think a pinch of salt is needed here. Possibly a ton of it.
But like I said, that's just my opinion.

1.0 out of 5 stars Sad 17 Oct 2012
This is a description of the afterlife for people who will be satisfied with very little and who probably don't even want to think seriously about it. Compare anything Browne has written or done, summed up by her glib predictions of the deaths of Shawn Hornbeck and Elizabeth Smart, to the real work of someone like Raymond Moody and you will come away with a real distaste for her contribution to understanding this subject. This book is the work of a quick buck artist

5.0 out of 5 stars life on the other side 14 Oct 2004
I have been, I believe a christian for a while but found certain peoples views a little odd. When I read this book, I found that everything Sylvia Browne spoke about linked with the bible, but it was the missing piece of the jigsaw puzzle which has totally changed my spiritual knowledge and feelings. It has completely opened spirituality up to me, without having read this book it would not have happened, and Im grateful it has!
Sylvia Browne has discovered through hypnotic regression with clients from all different religious backrounds that the results of past lives and life on the other side, heaven, and God, whatever you want to call it, the results are all the same, proof that no matter what religious background you are from we all come from that ONE SAME PLACE! If you are looking for spiritual awakening and opening up your mind to spiritual knowlege get this book!
