Great musical moments from various episodes. I was a bit disappointed that some of the hauntingly beautiful score from the series was not included, thank goodness at least the main theme (including John Simm's vocal intro and the mixed-in sound effects) was added as a 'hidden track'.

This album is a serious treat for fans of the series or those who just want to be reminded of the great sounds of the seventies. It starts and ends with some classic choice dialogue from Gene Hunt and is packed with some very familiar, and some less familiar, songs from the era of 8-tracks, three TV channels, Vesta dried curry meals and the Ford Granada (in bronze, of course).

If we don't miss the awful decor, social faux-pas, concrete jungles, see-through toilet paper, dodgy toothbrushes or synthetic fibres we most certainly miss the feel good, real good music and no-nonsense approach to life. With a generous selection of nearly two dozen tracks you can stick this on, sit back and remember a time before video recorders, personal computers, mobile phones or ASBO's. Bring back Gene Hunt and the Flying Squad, bring back real, proper life!

overall a nice soundtrack, some of the classics from the 70's and as can be expected with any kudos soundtrack there is a hybrid blend of music and dialogue from the series

however i was disappointed that they didn't manage to get all the songs from the series in; the Who's 'Baba O'Riley' & David Bowie's 'The Jean Genie' to name but two

This is a great '70s album which invokes memories of such a fantastic series when you listen it.

The track listings speak for themselves, I wouldn't be surprised if they release a 'part two' soundtrack album as there was so much fantastic music in the series and not all could fit onto this one release.

As well as musical tracks, there are snippets of dialogue from the series, and a hidden track at the end (which is the fab theme tune to the series).

If you're a fan of the series, a fan of good music, or both - this is great album to put on in the car and enjoy on the way to work. This isn't just a gimmicky "album to the TV series" as it contains a lot of very strong tracks (T-Rex, Bowie, ELO, Thin Lizzie, etc).

This is a good album but so easily could have been a great album, as other reviewers have said there are songs that should have been included that haven't and thats a shame as the two most notibale absentees ("Baba O'Riley" by The Who and "Jean Genie" by David Bowie) are both memorable and integral parts of the series soundtrack.

That been said if you want to kick back and listen to a pretty well put together 70's compilation, even if your foolishly not a fan of the show then this is definately worth buying.

I first wanted to watch this series when I found out that it was set in 1973, when I was living my mis-spent adolescence to its fullest - I think I actually wanted to find fault in it as "I was there at the time". All that happened in reality was that I sat loving it and saying "I remember that/doing that!" and smiling "Yes, had this one too!" when ever this soundtrack music was playing. As I already have all of these tracks bar a couple, I won't be buying this but I fully recommend it and the series (1&2) to anybody. In fact, I think I saw the young 'me' in the programme - well, it certainly looked like me! 5 stars for the series and 4 for the soundtrack, due to the omissions mentioned elsewhere.
