One of their best..., 16 May 2009

Hard to see why this album isn't reviewed here, seeing the praise lauded on all the others. This is up there with their best recordings,it is well produced and varied in style.
Broken and mended - Classic rocky opener, razor guitar.
Smart drug - Another rocky track with a hooky chorus.
Ghost-nets - Mellow and spooky with spidery guitar.
Frightened at night - Languid R+B groove, creepy lyric.
Daughter movie - Acoustic to start with an immense crescendo build up,in the Sixth continent mould.
Open - Quiet/loud song,male/female duet.
Honey I - A lovely folky song.
Vade mecum gunslinger - Fastest, rockiest track here, thrilling guitars.
Mercury hold - Mid tempo, cracking melody.
Fragile - Another epic,acoustic with electric crescendo,fab lyric,as always.
All in all,not a bad track, one my faves by them and dirt cheap!

This album is brill.
Anyone into decent music from the 80's, i.e. Smiths, Cure, and indie from Charlatans, EMF, Mondays etc., would enjoy this album.
The lyrics are smart and easy to absorb. Music really catchy. Is like a cross between singing and reciting poetry to music, but with a melodic voice.
Good stuff!
