Format:Audio CD
Mr Andrews and his fluctuating team of colleagues present another creative and strong long-player. This time drummer Martyn Barker is nowhere to be seen but erstwhile (co-)lead vocalist Carl Marsh pops up on 2 tracks, including the nostalgic sounding "Flowers Of Angst". Think "Jam Science" (though slightly less computerised) and "Oil and Gold" and this is more the feel of around 50% of this album. I feel there are a lot more programmed drum-loops here than previous two Malicious damage releases, so this keeps things fresh, yet sounding retro.
There is a mispressing inasmuch as Tracks 8 and 9 are swapped on the disc (they may or may not correct this later), so "Flowers of Angst" moves to a slot it wasn't intended for. However the album still flows very well, just was a bit of a surprise as I'd heard that track online (and loved it) so went to track 8 as a taster first!
Artwork is standard digipack with foldout insert and inner card sleeve to protect the CD. Not quite as fancy as the last two (no postcards), but does include full lyrics in easy to read format.
Really I would rate at 4.5 stars, due to the fact Carl appears to have any real involvement on 2 out of 11 tracks (I'd hoped for a few more) so this was a very slight disappointment. It's still great though!

Arrived on my snowy doorstep in Germany just in time for Xmas--Lovely sound, big soundscape, very atmospheric & quite melodic.
After repeated listenings, a few more impressions:
Mastered in a similar fashion to John Grant's Queen Of Denmark and Grinderman II - some digital smushing of loud sections but not horridly so. (Still, would be nice to get Steve Hoffman "the breath of life" mastering on all 3 of these releases, my faves of 2010 by far).
Songs 8 & 9 are reversed from the cover listing: "Now I Wanna Go Home" is actually track 8, and "The Flowers Of Angst" is #9. Also, there is an extra verse of "Angst" not listed on the lyric booklet.
Like this one a lot. Tends towards the quieter Shriekback tunes like "Faded Flowers" & "The Only Thing That Shines". Lots of space in the arrangements, but many nice sonic details too. The lyrics are wickedly humourous in many places.
My choices for singles: "Semidelicious" & "Make It Mauve" - both are witty "earworms", as they say in Germany.

A very good CD well worth listening to in particular the flowers of angst has some real meaning you can relate to
