Product Description

Oscar-winning film director Kevin Macdonald's Life in a Day is an idea borne out of a unique partnership between Ridley Scott's Scott Free UK and YouTube. The film is a user-generated feature-length documentary, shot on a single day--July 24, 2010--that enlisted the global community to capture a moment of their lives on camera.

The world responded with more than 80,000 submissions, over 4500 hours of deeply personal, powerful films from contributors from Australia to Zambia, from the heart of bustling major cities to the furthest and most remote reaches of the earth.

Life in a Day brings together the most compelling footage into a 90 minute film, crafted by Macdonald, executive producer Ridley Scott, producer Liza Marshall and their team, to offer a unique experience that shows, in beautiful, humourous and joyful honesty, what it's like to be alive on earth today.

5.0 out of 5 stars Phenomenally Beautiful 5 Nov 2011
Format:DVD
If you are a human being, living on planet Earth, you need to see this film. A beautiful anthology of a day in the life of people from all over the world. There are moments that make you smile, make you cry, make you laugh, cringe, unbelievable. A wonderful film, edited together brilliantly, beautiful visually. I felt like I travelled the world for 1hr30, and it was a great journey.

Wonderful, life affirming, tears, laughter, tender, brutal. Life in a day. A really great film. I saw this at the cinema but want to watch it again. A film to come back to and something to share with others

5.0 out of 5 stars Life On Earth 4 Nov 2011
Format:DVD
A snapshot of life on Earth, in the form of people's recordings of their activities on a day in 2010.

An ambitious film, it clearly was a labour of love for the makers. No filming involved for them, of course, but the process of editing and shaping the film must have a been a huge undertaking.

And it was worth it. Here we see other people's lives from all around the world. Its ups, its downs and its mundanity. Our similarities and our differences. What struck me most forcefully was the sheer diversity of life on our planet and, above all, for those of us who have what is regarded as even modest wealth by Western standards to count our blessings. We may or may not be happier than most of the people in the world, but if we have a warm home to live in and a little room to move around in it then we're very lucky. You can bet that my teenage kids will be seeing this.

Thought-provoking and for the most part uplifting, I warmly recommend this film to you.
