Your life will get HOT!, 31 July 2003
This review is from: Life Got Cold [CD 1] (Audio CD)
The third single from Girls Aloud's debut album "Sound Of The Underground" is a mid-tempo half-rapped, half-sung track that borrows melodies from The Spice Girls' "Viva Forever" and, as pointed out in the press, Oasis' "Wonderwall". Chosen as a single due to public demand from the girls' fans, "Life Got Cold" gives most of the vocals to Cheryl, Nadine and Nicola, who showcase their different singing styles on this track. It's one of the highlights of the album, and now the general public will get to see that Girls Aloud aren't just about high-octane 80's style pop, they're about much more.

Change of style - no change of quality, 8 Aug 2003
This review is from: Life Got Cold [CD 1] (Audio CD)
After two rollercoaster pop songs, Girls Aloud's third single provides a total contrast in style. 'Life Got Cold' is a beautiful, slow ballad, the no-nonsense edge of 'No good advice' replaced by a rather plaintive lyric. Apparently, popular demand from the fans has ensured that this song becomes the third release from the outstanding debut album; it cannot have been an easy choice as the album is brimming with potential chart-topping hits. The style of the song may be different, but 'Life Got Cold' retains what has already become a Girls Aloud trademark - alternating vocals. Given that all five girls have such good voices, this is a very effective technique. It is hoped the song enjoys the success it deserves and further silences the critics who thought Girls Aloud were a flash in the pan. With vocal talent like this, two of the best pop songs I've ever heard already behind them, this great ballad about to hit the charts and a queue of other potential hits on the album, I think they could be around for a long time. I certainly hope so.

Possibly best single release possible?, 16 Jan 2009
This review is from: Life Got Cold [CD 1] (Audio CD)
"Life got cold" was the third release off the debute album "Sound of the underground". Coming from a mediocre album, Girls Aloud definately did it right in 2003, releasing the best songs of the album on single. "Life got cold" is their 2nd best ballad song to date, with only "Call the shots" favoured over it. It's an amazing song, a ballad that still hasn't dated even if 6 years old. Girls Aloud are meant for this kind of music and considering it performed well in charts the public agreed. "Girls on film" later was part of the special edition of "Sound of the underground" and should have been considered for an A-side release. The girls and their production team managed to create a very modern electro version of the 1980's classic. With both of these songs on the single, it could just be the most perfect composition of a single release ever. 5 stars for this single, highly recommended for both ballad and electro lovers, well worth the effort!
