The conversations we have inside our own heads (or internal dialogues as some people call them) without doubt have many profound effects upon us. These conversations can be supportive or destructive, sadly for many people they tend towards the negative and the damaging.
This short, easy to read book distils the knowledge and insight the author has gained over decades of work as a therapist and equips the reader with simple and effective tools than can turn destructive patterns of thinking or behaving to nurturing and supportive dialogues
The book contains many quotes, aphorisms and proverbs. Some from people I have never heard of, the provenance of these sayings is I think largely irrelevant, some will resonate with the reader, some will not, their importance I believe is whether or not the reader can ask themselves is this a person "I know about or have heard of" and "do their words have a significance for me?"
Simplistically if you want to be successful model the behaviour and thought patterns of successful people, if you want to be at peace with yourself, whatever that means for you, find those people who have already achieved this state and copy what they do. This book can point you towards those people.
