I started taking B1 (Benfotiamine) together with B12 (Methylcobalamine) about nine months ago as part of a regime to counter Peripheral Neuropathy. I am pleased to be able to report that my hands are no longer painful, sensitive or weak and I am very satisfied with the results.

Suddenly, about 2 years ago, I became allergic to anything from the sea (except perhaps seaweed). I love fish and shellfish so it was quite distressful, especially since my favourite is Japanese and almost all Japanese meals include seafood (esp. bonito).

Thanks to one line in an expensive textbook on thiamine/B1 deficiency which mentioned some fish contain thiaminase (opposes thiamine), I began supplementing. About a month after taking 1 tablet daily of this and also of Thiamine HCL 250mg, I was again able to eat anything from the sea! Result!

I also later noticed my atrial fibrillation and other heart issues became less of a problem, although oil pulling (see the book of the same name) made even more improvements.

The official claim is that developed countries never have a thiamine deficiency (beriberi) but this is a lie. Factors influencing thiamine requirements include hot weather (especially tropical), increasing age, body weight and overall health. Many substances contain a thiaminase, which can break down thiamine and produce symptoms in only a few hours. In one known case fish created a thiamine deficiency and turned out to have thiaminase.

Thiamine deficiency can be precipitated by fever, increased muscular tone and activity (such as hard physical work), stress of any kind including illness, and other (unknown, as well as known) causes. For example, thiamine (and the other vitamins) are missing in our processed foods (additions are synthetic and cause damage, not benefits); also, while we are gobbling ant-acids, the majority of us with digestive issues actually suffer from low stomach acid, not high - the symptoms are identical and thiamine deficiency is one cause.

I had read that benfotiamine had provided some relief for people with peripheral neuropathy and decided to see if it could help my elderly dog who was suffering from a degenerative nerve problem. After a couple of weeks on the tablets she appeared brighter and her co-ordination started to improve. I am not medically qualified and cannot guarantee that this was not co-incidence, but if I missed her tablets, she did seem to struggle more so I am personally convinced that the benfotiamine helped

I've been using this for while now as it was suggested that it would help with diabetic neuropathy. And it does, at least for me.
Anyone who has this debilitating condition will know all about the burning sensation in ones feet, not to mention the pins and needles which can get you out of bed quicker then a wasp in your pyjamas. These tablets help me to cope with all of this. Of course I cannot speak for anyone else, but if you suffer with neuropathy give them a try. They aren't that costly and one bottle should be enough for you to know if they work for you. As for me? I would not be without them! They are not a cure but they do help.

A must for any diabetic, to prevent complications - I started noticing the initial stages of neuropathy, with very light tingling in my feet and some fingers on hand, immediately I started taking these - 2 in the morning and two before bed, I can confirm that after 3 months all my sensations in feet and hands are now fine, and I have no loss of sensation or even a tingling feeling, even when my blood sugars rise to 10.mmol - my HBCA1 is 7.1 and I have been a diabetic for the last 10 years and I am 46 years of age.

I also can confirm that the life Extension brand has the highest dose as you need 1000mg to be most effective in Diabetic complications.

I hope this review will assist anyone who is genuinely seeking a control which has been proven to me, in the prevention of diabetic complications.

Exactly as described and in perfect condition. If you have diabetes, this is a life saver, unfortunately not used by the medical profession in the UK.

A great product is this. If you have a sore mouth this is the thing to take. I used to think it was a folic acid and B12 deficiency that caused my sore mouth, but no , it is a B1 deficiency. I require a high dose, and this little number does the trick.

Being a diabetic I use his product to regulate my blood sugar levels and I must say it is doing an excellent job. Of course I still have to watch what I eat but I am able to relax a bit more when I take these tablets.
