I have waited ages to get a copy of this book and can quite honestly say that after reading it have been left feeling a little miffed. I expected the book to be about the last day's of Michael's life (as the book is titled)! but this was not the case. I could have skipped the first 60 pages or so (which were quite boring), and still only be at the beginning of Michael's career with INXS. If you really want to know about Micheal Hutchence's final days - read the last 30 pages and even then there is nothing we haven't already heard about or read about in the tabloids! Very disappointing book indeed - but I suppose a collectors item for all INXS/Michael Hutchence fans.

I was hoping to get a fresh perspective on the life of Michael Hutchence, but unfortunately Mr Gee did not do his homework. He seems to fill pages up with his own experiences and knowledge of the Australian music scene instead of getting personal with the subject of the book. After reading 'Just A Man' by members of the family, I can see that much of the personal information on Michael in 'The Final Days' is incorrect -even his middle name. It would have been more enjoyable had Mr Gee interviewed people who actually knew Michael Hutchence.

This book was fair. It had very interesting aspects like the euologies, the funeral schedule and some great photos. But Mike Gee spent too much time telling us why he WASN'T going to tell us certain things. And I was tired of him getting up on his highhorse about the media exploiting Michael when, essentially, he's doing the same thing with this book. Worth reading for Michael fans because there's nothing better available at this time.
