5.0 out of 5 stars A classic British film from the classic British film-makers, 26 Mar 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: The Life And Death Of Colonel Blimp [UK Import] (DVD)
The Life & Death of Colonel Blimp is the definitive film by The Archers, Michael Powell & Emeric Pressburger, and one of the greatest British films of all time. It tells the story of Clive Candy - brilliantly portrayed by Roger Livesey - and follows his life as a soldier up to & including WW2, his friendship with a German soldier and his relationships with three different women, in a masterstroke by Michael Powell, all played by Deborah Kerr. It's funny, it's moving & it's a tour de force of cinema, particularly in this new DVD package. And as a further inducement - it was banned when it first came out!
