Book Description

1 Dec 2013
The world's democracies are not working well, and every attempt to start a new one seems to end in extremists fighting for power. LIFE AFTER DEMOCRACY is about reversing the rise of violence, and making YOUR voice heard. The new way forward begins with the extraordinary experiences of a Geneva-based intermediary, who has worked with some of the world's most hated dictators and their opponents. His initiatives have helped a number of countries to escape from oppression and the same direct approach shows how today's rise of conflicts and extremism can be reversed. The clear and practical conclusions have already won support from leaders on the right and left wings of politics, and certainly they can appeal to the millions of ordinary people who want their countries to turn in a new direction.

This is a great read; a fascinating insight into the impact of political change in some of the most turbulent arenas in the world. I found it an honest and open reflection of the actions of one man that could potentially lead to the positive actions of many. A book that allows readers of all levels of political literacy too engage.

With so many recent political upheavals resulting in mass slaughter in search of the golden principle of democracy, Davis' not-for-profit book proposes an alternative peaceful solution.
He gives a humorous and fascinating account of his work as an international mediator, from single-handedly collapsing the gold market in the Soviet Union to reduce their arms funding, to working in Cambodia with the Khmer Rouge. He shows the incredible effect an individual can have on a society and it is amazing what he has achieved. The book then lays out his alternative to democracy, allowing the population to express their opinions and effect changes in government without the chaos and bloodshed we've seen in the Arab spring.

READ it and PASS IT ON!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars A better form of democracy in a violent world 4 Dec 2013

A must read.
This is so refreshing - concise, readable and to the point.
At last a way for the people's voices to be heard without being ignored by religious or political zealots who seem to dominate the current "Democratic" system.
Instead of being stuck between two extremes: Wahabi Muslim vs Western or even Democrat vs Republican; this is a method where reasonable people can reach reasonable solutions that are much better for all.
