i was so exited about this book i actually pre-ordered it, which ive basically never done before and i was not to be disapointed, this novel is amazing, at points it made me; gleeful, sevearly depressed and at one point even queezy. Michael Grant has the power to make the reader feel the emotions straight from the character, which is brilliant. I feel that this book matches if not beats Gone and Hunger, its so attention grabbing, i couldnt keep my eyes from the page until it was finished. The only bad thing is the long wait for the fourh book, plague, to come out.
Just to say i got the american version of this book from Amazon.co.uk, and im pretty sure that the engish version of lies-which is bright blue, doesnt come out till september of this year.

awesome series 24 Sep 2010
By Kirsty at the Overflowing Library TOP 1000 REVIEWER VINE™ VOICE
Format:Hardcover
This series is awesome. I don't want to write a proper review for this book so not to spoil it for others so I am going to list the things I liked about it and the series.

The series is original in its approach despite reminding me of several other things such as Lost, heroes and lord of the flies.

The books are hard core and definately not for the faint of heart. There is some pretty nasty stuff in them which happens which make for some difficult reading. I don't know what is more difficult, the fact the things actually happen in the story or the fact that you can imagine them actually happening in a world where the entire population is under 15.

Some hard hitting questions about morality and humanity are raised and discussed throughout.

The main characters in this book are awesome. I love Sam (although I didn't feel like he was there as much in this book) and Edilio and I hate the villians of the piece - really really hate them.

I love the fact that I have no idea what is actually going on. Everytime I think I have it sussed my ideas are blown out of the water. The ending of this book in particular blew my mind.

In short - read the series it is awesome!

Very Very Good! 2 Oct 2010
Format:Hardcover
I love this series, and it makes you think about what life would be like if this actually happened! The characters are all believable and each have their own problems to contend with, though in this book there was a lot of changing point of view so I sometimes lost track if I hadn't read about a certain character in a while xD I found it surprising that, even though Sam is the main character, this book didn't follow him as much as the other did. Instead I feel like this book balances out between all the characters, not just Sam, but I guess this was to emphasise that he wasn't really himself, and things start to fall apart :/ You really feel sorry for the characters and in touch with them, for me I felt bad for both Mary and Diana especially, since they have a rough time of it in this book. At the same time you really hate some of the characters, like Zil and Caine (though I enjoy reading about them the most xD). The main thing is, I never felt like skipping a chapter or a boring block of text...it was all good, gripping stuff :)

There are plenty of cliffhangers and the content is super, so I highly recommend you read this if you haven't already ;)

Just as good as the others
Gone and Hunger were great books. In fact, I even wanted to give Gone (the first book in this franchise) 6 stars rather than 5. Read more
