The NAXOS label do a series called American Classics and have an impressive Charles Ives section.
Maybe they don't have any George Gershwin as you'd expect to find his name on a collection of American composers but not especially the name John Cage Covers 16 names from the earliest (Louis Gottschalk) to the later (Philip Glass) Usually when you find these samplers they cost very little
