So far I guess Liv Kristine is mostly known as the frontwoman of folk metal band Leave's Eyes and for her time with Theater Of Tragedy. And somehow her metal career - and her attractive physique - has stood in the way for total acceptance of her excellent solo records. Which are in a more traditional pop-rock vein with more than a touch of glorious 80s power pop.
This is a very well-crafted album, great musicianship, top-pro production by husband and musical partner Alexander Krull. Intelligent thoughtful lyrics but ofc the main attraction is Liv Kristine. Her beautiful voice and her ability to get inside the lyrics and sing from the heart.
The gorgous "Paris Paris" would have been a major hit in 86 - and maybe it has a chance also in 2012? "Silence" is pure, delightful new age, and her cover of Kate Bush's "The Man With The Child In His Eyes" - only accompanied by piano - really displays what a brilliant singer she is.
For all fans of great pop and the beauty of the human/female voice.

This is the first of Liv's solo album that I can honestly say I love, being primarily a fan of Leaves Eyes. But this one does it for me. It's rockier than some of the others and I like how she uses her voice. Highlights for me are Panic and Meet Me Under the Red Sky, my least favourite is the too poppy Paris, Paris. Overall, pretty darn good.

Having been a huge fan of Leaves' Eyes for a while, I was really looking forward to hearing frontwoman Liv Kristine's latest solo album, and I have to say I was not disappointed.
Anyone who's heard any of the Leaves' Eyes albums will know Liv has an incredible and beautiful voice, however with her individual album, she's managed to craft something that has a different sound and feel to the "heavier" LE releases. This is more pop than metal, but should appease fans of Ms Kristine all the same.
The only reason I've not awarded it the 5-star treatment is because I thought one of her previous solo releases, "Enter My Religion" was superior and perhaps a little more varied in its sound. However, there's still no denying that this a solid and fine effort from a hugely talented singer.
