I don't think I've ever put up a review here before but while listening tonight to the latest offering from the Black Dog felt inspired to throw up a few words. Basically The Black Dog return to much more dancefloor orientated material after their previous brilliant ambient offering 'Music for Real Airports'. This is a pretty dark album and plays as a continuous mix which is really nice - from reading the notes on their release label 'Soma' they wanted to achieve the sense of their live shows and if this CD is anything to go by a visit to a live show is a must. There has been a lot of good releases so far in 2011 but I think this is likely to become my album of the year, certainly in electronica if not overall. An essential album, as expected.
