Lia Ginno was born in Eltham, London. Lia became a nursery nurse and worked with children in special units, hospitals and schools around London and when she with her husband and two daughters moved to Kent. Eleven years on, they moved again to Cornwall where she went back to college and studied for her Certificate in Education. Lia then lectured in Child development and education.
However the sea and the mystic Cornish landscape abounded with legends of mysterious stories with secret tunnels, sacred relics, stone circles and ruins and they started Lia writing. In researching Cornish legends she found that they were often mixed with religious history, (now a hobby of Lia's,)and so began 'the Legend' series, which are intertwined with world myth, religion and legends.
Now living in Lincoln her latest book and new series 'The Gallant Three' has been inspired by her past work and her grand children. It is told by Amy a girl of nine who is cheeky, with a fantastic imagination and is deaf. Mysterious things start to happen in Amy's school and with two of Amy's friends Charlie in a wheelchair and Sam they puzzle out the secret and become heroes. When Lia was a child her favourite trip out was to her local library for the books by Enid Blyton - The Famous Five and The Secret Seven adventures were as well known as JK Rowland and Harry Potter and several of the comments about her books are that they are written in the same vain as these stories.
