Overall the P4350 is a brilliant all-in-one printer at a great price. One of the best things about it, as with other all-in-ones, is that you do not need to have your PC switched on to use all of the features; as a stand-alone device you can alternate between Copy Mode, Scan Mode and Photo Mode with the push of a single button. The Photo Mode is supported by a 2" x 1.5" screen (on the printer itself) in which your pics are previewed before printing, as well as boasting a USB/flashcard reader outlet for direct plug-and-print capabilities. What is also excellent about this printer is that in Copy Mode you can press either the colour or black/white buttons to choose how to print, again without switching on your PC.
When used with the PC switched on, the 4350 comes with some fine imaging software and an extensive range of settings, through which you can personalise your photos (and other documents) to the highest level before printing. The maintenance and troubleshooting features of the software are also very helpful. So overall there are many positives to this printer, but I also want to name a couple of possible negatives:
1) When printing multiple photos, on one or two occasions the printer skips its position. It is normal for all printers to appear to lose position very infrequently, but when it occurs during high-quality photo printing the PC has frozen and the printer stopped completely instead of realligning itself as other devices do. Manual restart was required and the job had to be started again. ***I Will stress that this may be a PC problem on my part, but it is fair to note it because it happened in the same situation twice***. This is very rare however as I have had the printer for over a year now and had very few problems.
2) The only other grievance I have is regarding the printer cartridges; the printer has two slots, one which can hold either the black cartridge or the photo cartridge, and one for the colour cartridge. This is fine, but while normally the colour cartridge can mix black, I have found that without a black cartridge this printer does not automatically use the colour, showing an error message instead. I have never found a solution to this and Lexmark were no help so make sure you have enough black ink for all of your text work (The High-Yield cartridges are good value for this printer).
These are minor issues really and generally the positives totally outweigh the negatives with this product. Why spend £150+ for an all-in-one when this one is available at such a great price?
