1.0 out of 5 stars Mac owners beware.... 21 Feb 2012
By Andyc
This crashed my Mac badly every time I used it...It needs a driver installed from the Lexar site which also crashed my Mac on install, twice... Once the driver was installed the computer could see the reader (and it is lightening fast), but the driver blocked both Nikon transfer and Adobe Bridge from seeing it and so both pieces of software became useless.... Be warned....

5.0 out of 5 stars Express card reader 1 Dec 2011
Some reviewers complained about this not fitting their PC etc.. Not sure how you can make that mistake when the measurement of the slot it fits into is quite clear on the package, and if your PC or Mac does not have that sized slot, then do not buy it ?! Works great on my MacBook Pro 15" and reads data much faster than my old USB card reader did, which is important now that I have a Canon EOS7D which takes very large files and HD video. Download times are bearable now ... Card reader is subject to bending (not that I have, I have not) -- just be careful how you store and carry it around as it is a long thin object (kind of a "duh" thing to me ... )

4.0 out of 5 stars Good, but Flakey drivers 17 Aug 2011
By fenix
I ordered this along with a new CF card to save time when copying the files from the much larger card (from 2bg to 16gb).

The speed increase is fantastic and the rates are limited by that card and not the bus.

however there is one issue with the drivers (i use WIN7 64bit). I can attach the device after a boot, use it without issue. If i stop the device to remove it then try to reattach it, it fails to recognise anything and have to reboot again to access the CF card. The same happens if i remove card, sleep (close my laptop lid) then awaken - no access.

Only a reboot seems to sort.

In practise however this probably wont be an issue as i'll only ever be using it once per session to move a days worth of photos onto the pc for processing - after which the card will return to the camera.

Only other thing i could add is the design of the item with the plasticy outer could be more robust feeling or be sunk flush with the laptop so i it wouldnt get accidentally broken.
