Not as fast as a solid state drive, but still okay, linux compatible 27 July 2007

I get about 5 to 10 MB a second transfer speed to and from the device. Because it is solid state seek time is not an issue. An easy way to add 16 Gigs of storage if you have an expresscard slot (fit nice and snug you don't need to worry about it once it is installed). Can be used for readyboost (vista), see little return. I am using it as an encrypted filesystem for sensitive files. Linux compatible.

A great way to expand available storage or transfer work between computers 5 Nov 2008

I have been using one of these for nearly a year now. It has worked incredibly well for me. I use a number of different computers and I use this Lexar 16GB to keep all my critical files when moving from computer to computer. My Lenovo/Thinkpad has a built in slot for this, so I can just insert it in the side. My desktop computer I use most often has an external USB connected device that allows me to plug in this device and have all my files available to working. (That external device was a bit hard to find but it's been very valuable to have.) Back to the Lexar card. I have had no trouble at all with it. It's worked exactly as I wish it to work. Reliable and allows for transfer of very large files between computers in addition to keeping most of one's usual work files. (I backup all the files on the Lexar to a subdirectory on my desktop, routinely, and that subdirectory is backed up to the internet via Carbonite.)

If you have the need for a device like this, I highly recommend this unit. I am eager to see them come out with a 32 GB version.

Cute and slow 10 Oct 2007

While it is nice to have 16GiB in a little box that hides completely within my computer and can travel with me to work, I find it is S L O W to mount on my MacBook Pro and equally slow to transfer files on my PC at the office. ExpressCard SSDs won't really be ready for prime time until the storage cards are PCI-X-based.
