I purchased this book at the beginning of my second year on the course. I wasn't able to purchase it upon starting the course as its release was delayed by the publishers.

The content of the book is very good and is definitely beneficial, but I unfortunately found that unit 12 was not covered. I was highly disappointed by this so wanted to advise others to check before buying. If you go to the publishers website 'Pearson', you can see a full list of the units covered in the book.

Hope this helps someone

Coursework Book 26 Dec 2011
I find this book very useful and helps me a lot with the course I am participating in for the next two years. Although in certain aspects there is not enough information on apparatus etc I've been able to search on the Internet instead.

This book is for a certain course which is the title so unless you are doing this course or a tutor has recommended it, this may not be what you are looking for.

Overall good book for course participants.

This book is good, but the main problem with it is that it does not give all of the criteria to get the grades. This is especially true with the mathematics units (6 and 8) which I have done so far. My class did all the criteria given in the book for those two units, and our examiner was the person who actually wrote those sections. He denied it, saying we didn't do any of the criteria properly, and we were forced to do those units completely over again in the two months we had left, on top of our other units; and we only had enough time to get the pass criteria for them. Not very happy at all.

But because it is the only book of its type on the market, it is a very useful resource for getting the majority of the information required for the mandatory units. It is a must-buy for anyone doing BTEC Applied Science Level 3, but users should definitely not use it as the prime resource, especially around the mathematics units.
