This is an excellent book,and highly recommended. It has so much information, illustrations, photographs all in colour and indepth.It is so easy to read and to understand. It has small tips on every page, such as good practice or reminders.
All the students in the classes ask to borrow this book, it is so good.
This is my 2nd Janet Simms beauty therapy book.
This is only a small taster of what the book has got to offer.
It consists of 471 pages of:
Employment standards (legal and professional framework), Roles and responsibilities (develop and maintain your effectiveness at work), Health and safety (ensure your own actions reduce risks to health and safety), Reception (fulfil salon reception duties), Selling (promote additional products or services to clients), Facial massage and skin care (improve and maintain facial skin condition),Eyebrow and eyelash treatments (enhance the appearance of eyebrows and lashes), Make-up (provide make-up treatment), Depilatory waxing (remove hair using waxing techniques), Manicure and pedicure (provide manicure/pedicure treatment), Nail art (provide nail art service), Nail technology (extend and maintain nails), Ear piercing (pierce ears), Hydrotherapy and heat treatments (assist with spa treatments).

Format:Paperback
This book is ideal for theapists who are studying through correspondance. It gives simple step-by-step guidelines with basic explanations. The self-check questions after each section are straight forward. I would not recommend this book to therapists wanting in-depth knowledge and descriptive explanations as this book is practical and focuses more on beginners who are just starting out and need to know the very basic. Being a self-learner, I find the book to be helpful and the pictures useful. It is a wonderful starting book and im going to have fun putting what I have learnt from this book into practise.

It was my good fortune to study under Janet Simms (a foremost authority in Beauty Therapy) who was instrumental in inspiring many students to carry forward their beauty therapy skills in to the workplace; and responsible for passing on all the traditional technical and practical application skills necessary for the modern beauty therapist to become a skilled practitioner. All the very best techniques are covered in this practical guide; with an emphasis on quality of client care and the highest of salon treatments and standards. No level 2 Beauty Therapy student should be without this book. This is a standard text book that will be around for a very long time.
