Now I've always been the type of kid that looks like a jock but has the heart of a poet, if that makes any sense whatsoever; basically nobody would usual think I'd like this music or the movie whatsoever. Born in 1985, a few years after the release of the hit Rankin/Bass children's classic take on the award-winning book The Last Unicorn, I grew up with the movie. Not only was I taken far beyond any other moviegoing experience with this film, but I was enthralled with the music itself. Contrary to most beliefs, I think USA-based band America proved itself by delivering quality performances, even if the vocals are contrived and whiny. The music, especially the title track, is a haunting ballad that is sure to bring tears to any eye, young and old, because it's one of the most beautiful openers of a movie ever. Truly enthralling, truly amazing...brilliant in every aspect.
