Book Description

James Parker lives in the heart of the Lake District with his wife, Emma, and their three young children, Poppy, Finn, and Millie. He thinks his life is perfect.

That is, until the unthinkable happens and Emma is struck down by an unknown car and left for dead late one winter's night.

As James is forced to fight for his family, he begins to question everything and everyone that Emma knew. But before he can make the decision that will shape his family's future, he needs to know – who had committed this horrific crime and why would someone want to hurt his wife?

5.0 out of 5 stars A compelling page-turner 9 Feb. 2014
By K. Wright VINE VOICE
Format:Kindle Edition
Set in the Lake District, "Letting Go of Emma," begins with a terrible hit and run which leaves the titular character for dead. Emma's husband has enough to cope with looking after their three young children and dealing with his wife's deteriorating condition but that is only the beginning. Determined to solve the mystery of his wife's accident James begins to uncover many hidden secrets from his beloved wife's past. The twists and turns bring about more mysteries just like in The Missing Half and private detective Edd makes a second appearance. With her first two books Brooke Powley really has established herself as a unique voice in contemporary fiction. Recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another page turner 17 Feb. 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I have eagerly awaited Brooke's next novel after reading her first and her second book, Letting go of Emma was even more of a page turner. The story is told in three parts with the first setting the scene and introducing the reader to thought provoking and interesting characters whilst the second and third parts are told from the point of view of the characters themselves. The book twists and turns and compels the reader to find out what happens next and I, for one, couldn't wait to know what happened next. I read the whole book in a couple of days and am now left waiting patiently (or impatiently!) for Brooke's third novel - hoping that it won't be long! It was lovely to see the return of Edd from Brooke's previous novel along with reference to the events from her first work. Well done Brooke!

5.0 out of 5 stars Couldn't put it down! 22 Feb. 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I started Letting Go Of Emma on the bus to work as I often do only to have to stop after 40 pages or so. Getting home later that night I decided to read another couple of chapters before bed...2 hours later I was still up and finishing! It's not very often that I finish a book so quickly!
There were a couple of points I had to double check which character's account if events I was reading, but I'm putting that down to the late hour I was reading. I love how Brooke's books add further dimension to the story by using the point of view of each of the characters as it enables the reader to have a greater understanding of the events that are unfolding.
Waiting for the next one now!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Very emotional read 25 Feb. 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Loved it!
Needless to say, it affected me much as her last book. I was sobbing on a Lufthansa flight on Sunday afternoon reading a certain section.
I really like the writing using various characters, it allows a very rounded story.
I await her next book with baited breath.

Found this book unrealistic. At times the plot made no sense and I felt no emotional connection with the characters.

Please don't bother buying this book. Although it is easy to read, there is no substance to the characters, not one child ever crying for there lost mother. Read more
