Product Description

Product Description

“Letters from Mallorca” is the true story of time spent in “Hospital Joan March.” situated high in the hills of Mallorca.
A blood infection resulting in a three-day fever had alerted Kevin to the fact that something was desperately wrong, and within hours he had an emergency operation to have his left foot removed.
Over the next six months he gets to know the patients and nurses; improves his Spanish, has some comical adventures with fellow “Inmates” Ramon Leonthio, “Oldham John,” “Mr. Burns” and the effervescent “Fruitcake!” He also falls madly in love.
He is a big hit amongst the doctors and nurses; “Christmas Party Maria,” “The Lovely Francisca,” “Contact Lens Marga,” “Nurse Hitler” and “Doctor Death” to name but a few.
However, right from the start he only has eyes for one of them – his beautiful “Guardian Angel,” Maria Angeles; the girl who would simply take away the pain.
This is a positive, life-affirming and confident true and honest story, whilst deeply personal it offers an amusing and entertaining look at everyday life on a hospital ward in a foreign country, where the language barrier provides as much amusement as it does frustration, and is highlighted to great comic effect.
The reader is taken right to the heart of Kevin’s world and allowed the most intimate view of his life, and comes away with a feeling of hope, inspiration, and a nice warm gooey feeling inside!

Format:Paperback
A wonderful guy with a wonderful sense of humour at a difficult time. If your interested in a fantastic story, courage, love or love for the Island of Mallorca you should read this book. In fact anyone who holidays in Mallorca, is an ex pat or works there should read it, you will relate to all the locations etc etc. I'm a pilot and visit Mallorca a lot. I read this book airbourne, not one page was read on the ground. Also read his 2nd book about Magaluf, A summer in Magaluf. this guy is a seriously great writer. you owe it to yourself to buy this book, you owe it to Mallorca. It's a Gem.

Laughter and tears 29 Oct 2010
By Harry
Format:Paperback
Wow what a read! The author has a unique style and sense of humour , how anyone can make me laugh when talking about having a leg cut off, is beyond me. Could'nt put the book down once I started reading. How anyone could go through what he went through and write such a good book is simply breathtaking , and talk about a twist in the tail it literally brought a tear to my eye.Hope we get to read more of Keveeeen's adventures , I for one cannot wait for the next installment.

Humourously written 14 May 2010
Format:Paperback
Knowing the writer personally i know that this is a true story.I can only imagine the physical and mental pain the writer went through but i am sure that it was his courage and sense of humour that pulled him through. This was his first book and was full of honest feelings of the time he was going through. There are more books to come from Kevin and i'm sure they will get better and better.Be sure there will be many more laughs to come from Kevin as he shares his adventures with us.

I had so looked forward to reading this book but I found it surprisingly frustrating because of the repetition and naivety.
