Michael Raine (Poison singer Bret Michaels) looks back at the events that have led to him awaiting his fate on Death Row, convicted of murdering his girlfriend (Kristi Gibson). What can I say. I'd heard so much about this ego trip by Mr Michaels and being a Poison "fan", I had to give this one a go. and I must say that it's not QUITE as bad as I thought it may be.
First off, the story is OK, even if it is a bit predictable if you can keep watching until the end.
The acting is pretty good if you can get past the fact that the lead character that Michaels plays (a hard-rocking singer who takes himself a little too seriously) is not a million miles away from his own self. He holds his part well and you believe that he is a hard-rocking... you know what I mean.
The other actors are OK. Mr Martin Sheen pops up as Brett's Dad at one point, which is almost as surreal as the scene where Brett turns up without his false teeth in (I kid you not)... The fact that Charlie Sheen appears for about three seconds and is Michaels' production partner makes you wonder how much begging the boys had to do to get Charlie's distinguished dad to waste a day making this. If I were Martin Sheen, I'd ground them and send them to bed without any supper!
Anyway, I digress. The point is this. On the cover, it mentions 'Brett Michaels this' and 'Brett Michaels that' so many times that you CANNOT take this movie seriously. After all, this is the man who also wrote the lyrics, "like gasoline, you wanna pump me and leave me when you get your fill, oh yeah!" Why should we take a gritty crime thriller from him seriously?
Maybe I'm being unfair, but let's also remember that I only bought this DVD because it was Brett's own work and I do believe that every rose has it's thorn, just like every night has it's dawn (yeah, yeaaahh). If it wasn't for the name, no one would watch this at all.

Being a huge fan of Poison, i had to watch this film, which was written, directed and paid for by Bret Michaels. It is obvious that there is a low budget behind this film (picture quality and some of the supporting cast could do with being better), however, i continued to watch. The story is excellent and even though there is limited funding on this film, it turns out to be an enjoyable, mind-twisting watch. If you like "The Man Who Wasn't There" then you will definitely like this. BUY IT!!

if anyone has seen this movie, please consider checking out the reviews on Amazon.com, they are almost as laughable as the movie itself.

A friend and I have rated it the all time best movie to take the micheal out of and has remained a runnning joke with us for over 6 years. Martin Sheens portral as Brett father, which is in which he appears for no apparent reason with no relation to any plot had us in stitches. a truely terrible attempt to name drop in a the most dire of dire films. crack open a couple of cans, sit back with some mates and rip the mickey! then you can use the DVD as a coaster once your done.

too be honest, I feel that Bret did a wicked job writing the story, however it is my opion that he lost it writing the script. the story and the actors and his acting to be fair, were very good. I just feel that at points the film just wimped out slightly. I would say to any Poison fan WATCH IT he is still the sexiest thing on too legs. But I would expect more from him next time. I would say that if he truly improves with every movie he will achieve something truly special in no time. Rome wasn't built in a day and Stephen Spielberg wasn't an overnight sensation!
