I like paperbacks - cheap trade novels bought for a few quid in discount stores that are handy to carry and read - but, mostly, I like quality hardback books that have had some time spent on their writing and production. This is one of those. It's a beautifully produced item and the material inside doesn't let it down either. From the history of symbols and early glyphs to the modern day construction and vagaries of typeface and font design, this tome covers it. It's interesting factually and I felt like I was getting more than my moneys worth in both content and substance. Frankly, all books should have this much care and attention lavished on their production. Well done Taschen!
