Make learning Spanish fun for kids through music
All little kids adore music, so why not tap into this natural affinity to get young kids hooked on foreign language learning? That's precisely what the unique Let's Sing and Learn in Spanish does.
With a songbook of twenty original melodies, Let's Sing and Learn in Spanish (CD edition) teaches basic Spanish vocabulary and expressions in a fresh, exciting way. Instead of trying to memorize greetings, numbers, colors, and days and months, your child will enjoy the fun of putting them to music. While singing "Los meses del ano (The months of the year)," not only will your child be actively engaged, but the lessons learned will stay with her much longer as she associates the new words with easy-to-remember rhythms and beats.
Pop in the twenty-five-minute CD and listen as your child sings along in Spanish with other kids on the recording, belting out these delightful tunes and learning about everyday subjects at the same time. Features include:
Whether you're an educator, parent, babysitter, or caregiver, you'll be amazed at how quickly kids, even the shiest in the bunch, catch on to Spanish when music is the medium!

best for younger children,
By A Customer
This review is from: Let's Sing and Learn in Spanish (Book + Audio CD) (Paperback)
Unlike the other reviewer, I actually liked these songs. I wish I could get something similar for my older children though, as this is aimed (in my view) at younger children.I've learnt lots from it and so have the children!

A fun way to reinforce Spanish vocabulary,

I run a Spanish Club at school for children of a very mixed age group - and, over the years, have found this book and CD almost invaluable for the reinforcement of vocabulary. (Recently I have had to purchase a second copy, as my first CD has vanished!)Some of the songs are excellent - for example; 'los colores' has become a game that we frequently play - even those who have been attending club for a couple of years enjoy it! Days of the week and months of the year are equally easily learnt from the songs on the CD - as are the sounds of the vowels, the phrase 'como se dice' and some common garments - however, I have to say that (in my opinion) the song for the numbers is one of the weakest I have ever heard, with pathetic and ridiculous rhymes! Naturally, the vocabulary is a little restricted - one of the disadvantages of working purely from songs - however; when handled with care, they have a lot to offer the younger learner and are a great tool for those of us who run Spanish Clubs in Primary schools! (also useful for parents on school runs!)

Language good, songs appalling!,
By Carolyn Johnson (Bucks, UK) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Let's Sing and Learn in Spanish (Book + Audio CD) (Paperback)
This book/CD set comprises numerous short songs sung in spanish by spanish children. The book includes a simple music score (on one line, for flute/recorder/one hand on the piano!) and the words, with examples of further verses (should you wish to make the songs longer than the version on the CD), good diagrams of actions, and opportunities to add some percussion instruments. The idea behind the set is very good - giving the children a chance to really join in, making language fun for children. This is where the set earns 2 stars!I bought the French version of this book, and felt that the songs were great for children to listen to, but a bit advanced in it's language - well, this spanish version is the opposite! The songs on the CD are awful - the quality of the recording is very poor, the tunes are non-descript and sometimes the words are unclear. It's a shame as the songs are about such great things as colours, numbers, greetings and other useful basic language. I would say that this book is only worth buying if you yourself are musical and will play the songs with your children/class - so as to avoid the awful CD. If your children can read, they might pick up quite a bit from reading the transcript as the CD is playing - but they could equally learn the same information from better resources.
