I can't believe nobody else has reviewed this CD before, 'cos it such a masterpiece! Chip Taylor, who only ever seems to be known for the fact that he wrote "Wild Thing", teams up with stunning Texan Carrie Rodriquez for the first time to produce an album that really deserves 6 stars!

Is it country? Is it folk? Chip calls himself a writer of country songs but this collection seems to straddle so many genres it's difficult to pigeonhole. It's difficult to pick 'stand-out' songs because they're all very strong but listen to the opening trio of "Sweet Tequila Blues", "Him Who Saved Me", and "Extra", and I know you'll be hooked!

Chip's 60's song "Storybook Children" is supposed to be the first song he and Carrie ever sang together - on stage in Holland, where it went down so well that Carrie, who was originally supposed to just play fiddle and sing backing vocals, was pursuaded to sing more and more until the duets became the bigger part of the live set. "Children", as performed here, shows what the audience saw.

The only track that I have a problem with is "Midnight on the Water". It's a beautifully played instrumental but it just doesn't seem to fit with the rest of the album.

The playing throughout is first class, with Carrie's violin really bringing the whole thing to life.

Buy this album! Simple as that - I know you won't be disappointed!
