Book Description

27 Nov 2007 Let's Go: Eastern Europe

Completely revised and updated for 2006, Let's Go Eastern Europe is the only choice for the budget traveller. Researched and compiled entirely by students who know first-hand how to see the world on the cheap, this guide has insider tips and information for the socially conscious traveller and is more useful and opinionated than ever.

Undiscovered cities, pristine national parks, empty hostel beds and ridiculously cheap beer lure seekers of adventure, culture and bargains to this mishmash of countries, still finding their feet after years of Communist rule. The distances may be great, and the bureaucracies infuriating, but a trip to this geographically varied, historically rich and culturally dynamic region will always be rewarding.

Listings at all price levels for accommodation, food, attractions and more

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely the best there is 29 April 2006
By Neil Jordan - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
To be entirely honest, I had my doubts at first about the Let's Go line of guidebooks, but this edition really changed my mind. Having picked up a copy of the newest edition on Let's Go Eastern Europe, I recently set out on a tour of the region and found this guidebook to be exquisitely put together and extraordinarily informative. This is a book which maintains a distictly entertaining personality while still offering the soundest travel advice a budget traveller could possibily hope for. I could not recommend this guidebook more highly - it is quite simply the best on the market today.

2.0 out of 5 stars Ok on the countries it covers 24 Jan 2008
By Kathleen Klotz - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
This book is ok.

I'm living in Prague now, and plan to travel eastward. It has helped me in Slovakia and Hungary and the Czech Republic.

The problem is that I want to travel to the Balkans...romania, bulgaria, and croatia are the only places covered in this book. The rest of the Balkans are completely not in there.

Also, it would be nice to put Greece in the Eastern Europe book as well as the western. I know it isn't thought of as Eastern, but the Geography kind of makes it a good place to visit while going through the Balkans.

P.S. Prague is NOT a trainwreck!!! I live here, and enjoy every minute of it. I'm sorry if there are tourists here, but you will run into tourists everywhere. If you are looking for a local experience, get out of Wen. Square and Mala strana!

2.0 out of 5 stars Not great 5 Sep 2008

This book just gives you the basics unfortunately. Was not very helpful, I would suggest just doing research on the interweb instead.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great book, very accurate and usefull. 18 May 2009
By Alejandro Olvera Velasco - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
Let's go guides are always my best option because of their great accuracy, good advicing and how useful they are. The content is young oriented, includes great tips on places to visit and how to save money and it is off course good for a general public (not only young).

The only disadvantage I see in Let's go Eastern Europe is that for some rason they didn't incldue Serbia. i'll have to buy a separate book for info on that coutnry since I'm planning a trip.
