Shot entirely in black and white in Copenhagen in 1997, this film reveals another side to the acting abilities of Sidse Babett Knudsen. Sidse is currently being seen on TV in the UK in the Danish political drama Borgen - Series 1 [DVD]where she plays the prime minister. In Let's Get Lost she appears alongside Bjarne Henriksen (Theis - The Killing / Defence Minister Thorsen = Borgen) and Nicolaj Kopernikus (Vagn - The Killing).
It's a film showing everyday Copenhagen life and filmed with only a general outline of a script mainly reliant on the cast improvising. Sidse makes all of her scenes extremely watchable, although in fairness to Bjarne and Nicolaj, they also are quite engaging as the two friends who seem to want to spend the whole time in front of the TV watching football and drinking beer.
The scene where Linda (Knudsen) and Steffen (Kopernikus) break into her boyfriend's apartment in order to investigate his affair and Linda's subsequent treatment of a bewildered Steffen is probably my favourite part of the film.
Fine performances also from Troels Lyby as Thomas make this amusing 90 minute film worth a watch.
Fans of The Killing - Series 1 [DVD] [2010] and Borgen will be impressed at just how versatile their main stars can be. This film is also a chance to see them in their younger days.
It may seem that Denmark has a small pool of actors, but the country has a small population too. It's a credit to see the actors in films in different roles proving just how good at their fine craft of acting they really are.
The film is entirely in Danish with English subtitles.
