About the Author

K. A. Jordan is a refugee from the Rust Belt of Ohio, who escaped to the Blue Grass of Kentucky in 1992. She writes and blogs from 'Jordan's Croft' a small farm where she lives with her husband, a retired Army Staff Sergeant, three horses and four dogs. She holds a degree in Applied Science, rides American Quarter horses, gardens and can often be found on the back of her husband's Suzuki M109 motorcycle. She says of her writing: "I believe readers want stories that appeal to the mind as well as the heart. I write the type of stories that I want to read and can't always find - complex characters, twisty plots and contemporary settings. There are no 'ripped bodices' in my fiction, but you might find criminals, wounded heroes, mad artists and an occasional haunted motorcycle."

Let's do Lunch is a Romance set in a restaurant, a great choice for bringing out the angst and anguish of a love affair, the highs and lows in a setting where the pressures are self-evident.
Lindsey, the main character, is at the mercy of outside forces which threaten to overwhelm her. Returning to the restaurant after an enforced absence, she immediately has to contend with the presence of her newly-hired chef, the distinctly enigmatic Brandon.
Lindsey's life was complicated enough after her mother's injury, her sister's chaotic attempts to keep the restaurant afloat, but these problems now appear trivial when compared to the effect of two men who compete for her attentions. Brandon and `Tag.'
The romance aspects are well drawn out and the story unfolds mainly through the eyes of the plucky, and occasionally overwhelmed, heroine, Lindsey. Don't expect Gordon Ramsey levels of excess or the salacious revelations of Anthony Bourdains; the setting exists as a medium through which the story enfolds, but the restaurant backdrop is an inspired choice.
Excellent pitches, strong character development and exploration of relationships and a high level of technical expertise in plot development mark this as a novel with rather more to offer than most offerings in this genre. The book was recommended to me and did not disappoint.

I've not heard of this author before. It's mainly a romance but with a bit of tension/crime in the background. The story is based around a family run restaurant and small holding. There are a couple of family members who don't really pull their weight in the business and then some people who come in to help who end up helping themselves more than they do others! There are a few interesting twists and turns along the way. Worth reading.

A great read! 6 April 2011
By Joleene Naylor - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
9/11 effect Lindsey's family in many ways and now her restaurant is what keeps the family going; her father grows the produce and even her scatter brained sister helps out now and then - though she usually does more harm than good. Even so, things are going good until her long time cook has to quit to keep an eye on her grandsons.

Lindsey hires Brandon, a good looking, charming, fun guy. But there's something about him just crawling beneath the surface. When Lindsey's mother gets hurt, she has to leave the restaurant in his hands while she helps her recuperate.A new waitress, lost invoices, and mixed up orders are just the beginning of too many problems.

Enter Tag, an ex soldier that her father hires to help around the garden. Though Lindsey doesn't want to trust him, she finds herself getting closer to him. But can she trust him with her problems?

This was a well written book that kept me turning the pages. Without giving away too many spoilers, I found the portrayal of most of the characters delightfully realistic - even the "bad guy" was still likable at the same time that he wasn't, just like real people. Also, I'm not usually a fan of the ex-soldier romances, but I have to say that I found Tag incredibly sexy and I'd go for him ;)

Good story 27 Aug 2010
By Stacy L. Daniels - Published on Amazon.com

Excellent characterization with very good dialogue, although the farming information was very detailed and maybe a little long-winded, which slowed down the flow of the story. There were a few minor typographical errors, but not an abundance. I did like the information about the organic food and the recipes Lindsey created, it actually inspired me to cook! I thought the characters and the family dynamics were very realistic and all the supporting characters were well developed. I was surprised that Lindsey had so much trouble asserting herself since she was a business owner, but her character slowly developed throughout the story and I was able to identify with her struggles, self-doubt, and hopes. Tag's tortured past was heartbreaking as he struggled to live with the aftermath of the war. The relationship between him and Lindsey was very well done.

A woman's journey toward happiness and stability. 27 Aug 2010
By Joanna Terrero - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
This is a suspense story with lots of twists, different from any others I've ever read. It has an intriguing premise and complex and credible characters. The book starts slowly, but by the time I got to the middle it became a page turner.

The story follows Lindsey, a modern business woman, throughout her personal journey toward happiness and financial stability. Her path is bogged down by family angst and mischievous employees. I did get mad and frustrated with some of the difficulties Lindsey deals with, therefore, K. A. Jordan did a great job conveying those situations. Lindsey encounters two attractive men, Brandon and Tag. Brandon is hedonistic and disingenuous and drags Lindsey into a web of deceit.

Tag is my favorite character in the whole book. Being a damaged hero, one expects he would be bitter, or full of grief. In spite of his past ordeals, he's caring and responsible. Someone who eventually becomes the anchor Lindsey needs in her chaotic life. I like the bridle path Tag and Lindsey take through genuine friendship, acceptance, emotional recovery and trust before falling in love. I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys women's fiction with elements of suspense romance. I'll be looking forward to K. A. Jordan's future releases.
