Just wanted to put a fair review, against the negative ones. Our daughter had this today for her birthday, and I looked online for details of what type of cream to use. I found a load of negative reviews, here and elsewhere, and therefore tried not to get the kids hopes up.

However, when we used it we were surprised at how well it worked. We used double cream, followed the instructions (didn't even fill up the drum fully with ice cubes as we ran out!), and after 10-15 minutes of fairly relaxed turning, we started to get decent consistency ice cream to start scraping off the drum. OK it melted fairly quickly, and you'll never get the quantity shown on the box from one mix, but the kids had great fun, and the ice cream tasted surprisingly good.

So just don't expect too much, (if you want to make a large quantity, get a proper ice cream maker!), follow the instructions, use double cream, and theres no reason you shouldn't get half an hour of fun, and a couple of small tubs of decent ice cream out of it. BTW I'm nothing to do with the makers!

This toy will probably last forever but will never make ice-cream. not sure where the photographs on the box came from but the ice-cream was certainly not made in this thing. Waste of time, ingredients and money.

What a waste of time. Cold milk is all you will get. The manufacturers must be reportable to some advertising authority as the ice cream in the picture on the box cannot have come from this machine.

Gave this to a 8 year old for a birthday present and she loves using it. I have not sampled the ice cream but I have not heard any complaints.

This was a complete waste of money.. we have tried several times to make the ice cream and each time all we got was a thin slither of ice, and not the lovely whipped stuff shown on the box... My Grandson is so upset as this was one of his birthday presents.

hi, bought this for my daughters birthday, found the instructions very basic, on our first attempt, think i put too much ice in the barrell. My ice cream didnt look anything like the picture, might try with cream instead of milk next time, good fun though x

Instructions not the best and couldn't get the drum to turn clockwise without it coming off the spool.
The stuff it did produce eventually was runny milk.
Very frustrating as my daughter was so excited to use it and was very disappointed when it failed.
I realise its a childrens toy but it should do what it says and totally doesn't.
    DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY!

Bought for my 5year old from her xmas list to santa and it was a huge success on xmas day. It makesvery tasty icecream and at least you know what ingredients are in what your children are eating... no e mubers!.
Tips to ensure it doesnt disappoint.
    1. Make sure you read the instructions before giving the gift to ensure you have all the items you need in your cupboard to make the icecream.
    2. Use shop bought bag of ice as you need a lot and the shop bought seems to make the drum much colder than the icecube frozen in trays. ( tried and tested both and the icecream took less time to make with the shop bought icecubes)
    3. The icecream makes in small batches so only expect enough for two children or 1 adult. A second load will freze in about another 15 minutes from the same batch of mixture so they can have seconds. Just make up another batch of mixture if you need more, the druns says very cold for a couple of hours.
    4. instruction with it are very limited so dont make it if tipsy or multi tasking!! as it takes some cocentration
    5. apart from filling the drum, easily operated by a 5year old so she has days of fun with it already, very little mess too!!
All in all, a good choice and one that will get used.
