Paul Bernado and Karla Homolka. Who are they? and what did they do? Their the 'Ken & Barbie' couple who between them subjected 3 innocent young girls (1 of whom was Karla's younger sister)to brutality beyond words, and then without feeling killed them. Karla's sister's death was the starting point for their perverse sexual sadistic habits. What this 'storybook couple' put these innocent girls through is not only beyond words and reading, but totally beyond all understanding. Karla is portrayed as a battered and abused girlfriend, then wife, with Paul seemingly being the person in control. Not so I feel after reading not only this book but also 'Invisible Darkness'. Karla is certainly no less guilty of the crimes than her sick husband. If the depraved acts alone that they endured these young girls to suffer doesn't turn your stomach, then just imagine having it all videoed with Karla apparently delighting in the making of them - just so her husband can watch them later and take pleasure in his handywork! This has to be one of the most sickest and saddest stories written to date. The only criticism about this book is that there tends to be just a little too much sympathy towards Karla. Never-the-less a riveting read if you can stomach what this cruel couple did.(for further reading try Invisible Darkness)

This book in my view is by far the best written on this story, mainly because it lets you know exactly how involved Karla really was. Some details very disturbing as im sure most people would expect anyway.after all ive read on this subject why karla stayed in this relatonship is a mystery, sure she was evil but only on pauls demand! His violence towards her was horrific but she had some very opportune moments to get out but chose not. This is the only book you need on this subject or at least make it your first.

Very good book, I am not one for reading too often let alone real crime, but I lived in Niagara Falls when all these crimes took place, moved away end of '93 so missed all the trial etc so I wanted to find out more about what had happened. I don't recall seeing much on the news when Leslie Mahaffy went missing! When Kristen French went missing it was everywhere, all around the world. A friend of mine delivered pizza for pizza hut, they had Kristen's picture on the top of the boxes asking if anyone had seen her etc, he went to one house and the lady there said just a second, Kristen's mom came to the door and couldn't thank him and pizza hut enough (it was before they found her body)
Those two were pretty sick and callus, those poor girls and there families did not deserve what they went and still have to go through, The Police dealing with all this at the time, from what I have read in this book and on the internet were pretty useless. A brother of a friend of mine had his Camaro stopped and cleared and had to have a sticker put on it to prove it wasn't his involved. (what were they looking for anyway?) Buy the book, I just couldn't put it down

I couldn't stop reading this book once I started, and I had tears in my eyes through the chapters involving the murders. This book gives actual quotes from the videotapes made of the murders. The author covers the crimes, the murders of Tammy, Leslie and Kristen, using language from the tapes and transcripts of the trial. If you want more coverage of Paul and Karla, and less coverage and details of the crimes, read "Deadly Innocence"; it gives the reader great insight and background to the lives of the murderers. The authors go into almost excruciating detail of Paul and Karla's childhood lives and upbringing, and give the reader a detailed account of their sick & twisted relationship through the eyes of their friends. In all honesty ---- "Lethal Marriage" was almost too much for me. I was unable to sleep after I'd gotten through the chapter on Leslie's murder.

OH MY GOD! I'm sorry but sick doesn't even begin to describe Paul and Karla. Paul is just beyond description, and Karla, well, she's even worse. I cannot fathom why any person would allow, let alone take part in the things that she did. For LOVE?? No I don't think so. How could any person love that much? It's not love. I wish we could have heard more from the parents of Paul and Karla, After all the Homolka's were in the house while Leslie's dead body was in the basement! My heart, thought's and prayers go out to the families of Kristen, Leslie and Tammy.

This book was a very fast read, although, if you have a queasy stomach you might want to skip this one. Nick Pron tells the story using actual dialogue from the videotaped rapes. This book is absolutely haunting. I am glad I read it but I feel a tremendous pain for the victims and their families after reading it. It seems a shame that Paul and Karla cannot pay for their crimes with a more fitting punishment.

I first read a snipet of this story in another true crime book so decided to buy Lethal Marraige, so heres what i think, if you have a weak stomach this is not the book for you. I cannot believe that Karla Homolka was so stupid and yet so evil the things she did are unforgivable i feel she is as much to blame for the murders of her sister Tammy and Leslie Mahaffy and also Kristen French... my heart goes out to those families. For a woman to be degraded by a piece of scum like Paul Bernardo and then to go on and carry out horrible rapes and murders on innocent people with him is pure proof that she is as bad or even worse than him.. i think they should have both been jailed for as long as they are living because in my opinion they are not sorry for the crimes they committed.
