I'm currently enjoying thumbing through Melissa Cole's new book "Let me tell you about beer". It's billed as a beginners guide and is actually just what I've been looking for.The whole point of starting my blog [...] was to learn a bit more about beer so I can enjoy drinking it more, but I have found some of the guide books I've looked at a little intimidating or too in depth for my rather paltry beer knowledge. Not so with this one. Easy to read, accessible and interesting - well worth checking out if you're looking for a good place to start learning (though I suspect there's plenty in there for those who know more than me).

The book was bought as a gift and it has worked a treat, a present for a man who enjoys real ales and has an interest in how things work. Large text for anyone who finds reading a struggle or needs glasses, sharp photographs which add value to the text and a nice size so you don't lose it. Well worth the purchase!!!

Just got my copy of the book. Was looking froward to this as consider myself a bit of a beer aficionado, but Melissa Cole's book taught me a number of things I didn't know. My view of beer has gone up 100% and now I just want to try different brews with different dishes! This book is not just for real ale lovers, it makes beer accessible to everybody. I defy anyone to read this and not think about what they are ordering when they next go into a pub. Will do for beer what Jancis Robinson has done for wine!
