Product Description

Product Description

This is a photocopiable resource book for teachers. It is a bank of 92 lessons at three levels, which can be used with a minimum of preparation. The book includes material for elementary, intermediate and advanced learners and there are four sections: jokes, cartoons, misprints and funny stories. Although lighthearted, the book is constructed around sound linguistic and pedagogical criteria, based upon the idea that humour makes learning more enjoyable and more memorable. --This text refers to the Spiral-bound edition.

Great fun in the class. Ideal for those times when work is plodding a bit and everybody needs a laugh or just for some easy homework that is a little bit different

This book is written for teachers of the English language. It is full of jokes and cartoons as well as misprints and funny stories that all have meaning only in the English language.
I think that it is only useful as a small part of a lesson, perhaps to revive pupils or to increase the pace and cause excitement and then to move onto or back to the topic that should be taught.
I do not see much use other than to create a little bit of fun in the classroom. For that reason, I give it two stars.

My school purchased this book at my request. I had used an online sample from this book. Upon receipt of book, I have discovered that it is 90% junk filler. Lots of bad jokes that even native speakers will have trouble with. I don't know how they came up with their levels of difficulty. This book might be okay for a very advanced class, not for my Level 5 Intermediate ESL class
fun in the classroom 16 Dec 2003

The range of exercises certanly provided an element of fun for my students and light relief at the end of a lesson or end of the week. In particular my students loved the completion story worksheets. They were motivated to retell the stories because they made people laugh and this is great for their fluency. A good book to have on hand for filler material.
