2.0 out of 5 stars Poor Advice 15 Mar 2010
Format:Paperback
I purchased this book prior to buying a Leopard Gecko, as I wanted to be prepared. I then bought all of the necessary homing facilities for the leopard gecko and set it up a few days before I bought the gecko. After speaking in great detail with the pet centre reptile specialists and a local exotic animal vet, I noted that many parts of the advice given in this book were incorrect.

I felt that it could actually have caused problems for my gecko and I am very grateful that I investigated further rather than just relying on this book.

The problem with reptiles is that different things work differently for each owner/pet but I felt that many points in this book were really off the mark. I have had my leopard gecko 15 months and also have an African Fat-Tailed Gecko and still find new things to worry about every now and again but I would never consult this book regarding anything.

I usually sell books that I have finished with and are in good condition, but I refuse to sell this on as I feel I may be responsible for assisting in potentially hurting these lovely, exciting and beautiful lizards.

1.0 out of 5 stars Terrible...You Literally Have To Be A Dummy To Buy This Book 5 Sep 2008
By RushManZer0 - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
When you read this it's like your talking to someone who got all of their information off the internet. A bunch of things this book says are informal and untrue. I am a breeder and I was shocked at all the B.S. this author had to offer. It was made out of scrap to scrape some money from unsuspecting prey. The writing itself is very poor and while reading this, you feel like you are talking to a pet store associate who knows very little about the creatures and can tell you the absolute basics then make up the rest in a matter that seems fit.

Don't waste your money on this, it's a compilation of internet sources and random (not expert) information.

1.0 out of 5 stars Beginners Beware 2 Sep 2009
By Danielle - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
Not all books of the Dummies series are helpful as this shows, this book really does have a lot of incorrect information as well as outdated information such as substrate use and diet. I would definitely not recommend this book especially not for a beginner who would regard this information as valuable and might base their animal's care off of it.

1.0 out of 5 stars The Dummy Wrote It 6 Jun 2010
By R. Brooks - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
I have been breeding leopard geckos for a number of years now. I purchased this literature as part of my herpetological library. I was very disappointed in this book. The content, as stated by another reviewer, sounds like it is coming from an uneducated petstore employee. She is spreading information that is outdated and in some cases, downright wrong.

This book is NOT ideal for anyone who doesn't know the species. The Leopard Gecko Manual is a MUCH better resource for someone getting into this hobby who seeks to learn the correct information.
5.0 out of 5 stars Love the title 31 May 2014
By kelly l montez - Published on Amazon.com

My grand daughter received a leopard gecko as a gift and I had no clue as to how to take care of it. I purchased this book to learn how and it was simple enough that my grand daughter could also read it and understand the responsibility of taking care of her lizard.
