Long battery life

Laptops are invaluable for getting things done, but they're also only as good as their battery life. We take our laptops everywhere and expect batteries to keep up with us. For that reason, long battery life tops the list for many laptop buyers.

Battery
Lenovo's Power Manager helps you get the most from your battery.

Lenovo's laptops are designed to run cool, which is one of the reasons they take little power. The less the cooling fan has to run, the less battery power it takes. (Smart air flow offers another benefit—it's a lot more comfortable on your wrists and lap to work on a cool system than a hot one.)

Power Manager

Lenovo laptops come loaded with Power Manager to help you easily manage your power settings. Just slide the bar towards the left for higher performance or to the right for longer battery life. Power Manager handles all the behind-the-scenes work.

Battery Stretch

Fight the dreaded "low battery" notification. Power Manager's Battery Stretch automatically turns off certain functions, like radio and Bluetooth, in order to squeeze out those extra crucial minutes of power you need to get the job done.

Battery quality

We set above-industry standards for our battery suppliers, and we vigorously test the batteries that we allow in our systems for safety and for long life.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great little machine 13 Feb 2012
By Toby
Style Name:Blue|Verified Purchase
This is a great little machine. I wanted a powerful laptop with a smaller screen, and this suited me down to the ground.

You'll find lengthy techie reviews littered all over the web about this machine, as to be honest, a laptop is a laptop. So, I'll just point out what I love and what irks me; however, overall, I do love this little beauty.

Pros:
* Fast
* Bright and crisp screen
* One touch physical recovery button (I can see this being invaluable)
* Battery management software - this thing goes for hours!
* Very nice keyboard for touch-typing
* Silent and cool. Very quiet machine that gets only slightly warm.

Cons:
* Touchpad button[s] is a single button on a rocker switch (like a seesaw). This means it's very easy not to be 100% sure that you're right clicking or left clicking. This does improve with use, but I would have preferred two separate buttons for that tactile response without looking.
* Touchpad scroll wheel - again, there's only the slightest difference in texture to know that you're using the scroll function of the touchpad. Could have been more.
* Return key is a little small - but again, you get used to this.

Finally, the blue model is a little too 'Kingfisher' blue for my liking, but still nice.

Please take the above as it is - the pros are real deal-makers for me, and the cons just something different to what I'm used to.

Summing up - If this item broke, I'd replace it like for like.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Value 13" on the market 10 Feb 2012
By SP1844
Style Name:Black
If you are looking at this review and considering Lenovo Z370, it's probably because of its smart 13".3 size and 1.9kg weight. Otherwise, there are plenty of cheaper 15" laptops with similar specs to choose from.
I was looking for a combination of processing power & storage with at least 4gb of ram and a the most important consideration for me was to have all that in a smaller lighter laptop.
The problem was finding something more powerful than a netbook, much lighter than a 15" laptop, and not much more expensive than a 15". Lenovo Z370 was the closest fit I could find by a mile (well, by £150!).
At 13".3 the screen is big enough to be practical and small enough to be easily carried around. At 1.9kg, the weight is a third lighter than the average 15" laptop. All this without compromising on processing power (i5). The massive 750gb of storage (bigger than average laptop) should be enough for my pictures and video clips.
I've had it for a month now and am extremely happy with it.
Once you've had a 13" laptop, you won't go anywhere near a 15.6 !!

5.0 out of 5 stars Very nice for the price 12 Dec 2011
By Haddy
Style Name:Black
Pleasantly surprised by the overall quality of this PC. Honestly I did not expect that for the price.

The only points that I could criticise are the following:
- Glossy cover catching fingerprints
- The bottom does get a little bit hot (with an i5 any small laptop will get hot)
- Enter Key too small

What impressed me :
- Overall look and feel (metal finish for palm rest and the whole area around the keyboard)
- Good sound quality
- Battery management software, keeps the battery not fully charged to improve its lifetime (useful when working on AC power)
- Dedicated capacitive keys for volume control, predefined screen settings and fan settings

I give it five stars, very nice product.

5.0 out of 5 stars Commissioning the Z370 30 Mar 2012
By Steve
Style Name:Black|Verified Purchase
First, I'll echo previous comments: this is a top-notch laptop for the money. So I don't say all the same things again, I thought I give some impressions of getting the machine up and running.

Before I purchased it I took a good look at the Lenovo Forum and it was clear that the One Key Recovery (OKR) is the major cause of anxiety. Sure enough, on delivery the hard drive is divided into 4 partitions, three of which are there to support OKR. The C: drive is around 600GB and according to most reports, attempts to repartition into something more sensible result in breaking the OKR function. So I had already decided to sacrifice OKR in favour of my preferred backup/recovery tools - Macrium Reflect and Easeus Partition Master. After all, who wants an operating system and half a terabyte of data, all on the same disk?

First, for peace of mind, I used OKR to create a factory restore disk set on 2 DVDs (slow process - 1 hour+). Next I installed Macrium and used it to make a Linux recovery disk and a full backup of all 4 partitions to a portable drive (quick - 20 minutes). Then I held my breath and used Easeus to delete the D: partition and the hidden partition at the end of the disk, shrank the C: drive to a generous 100GB and created new D: and E: partitions for data and media files. Rebooted: all well.

There is little bloatware on the machine - most of the Lenovo software is potentially useful and there is no MS Office Trial, as is often the case. I removed McAfee: it needs to be registered, then uninstalled, after which you need to run a McAfee Removal Tool to get rid of the last traces. Then I installed Microsoft Security Essentials.

Initially, the machine installed 2 Windows Updates and I was quite impressed, thinking it had a very recent install of W7.
