I bought this computer as I liked the idea of a laptop that converted into a tablet but still had a decent amount of memory and storage. I have been using the laptop for about a month. Performance of the laptop is ok but not stunning. The touch screen display is responsive and works well. Windows 8 is definitely more useable with a touch screen display. Tablet mode works quite well but some web sites in Internet Explorer did not seem to work properly without a physical keyboard. The on-screen keyboard works well but can take up a lot of space on the display. The Wi-Fi connection will also occasionally drop. Updating the Intel Wi-Fi drivers helped with this but did not totally clear the problem as the internet connection still drops, but less frequently, and a reboot is required to restore connection. Overall the laptop is ok and the Wi-Fi problem is only intermittent but I cannot give 5 stars. Tablet mode is also not as useful as I thought it might be.

I've had this laptop for all of 2 terms now (about 7 months) and it's driving me crazy.

Firstly the battery life - 3 or 4 hours at most - isn't enough to get me through a whole day of uni. Carry the charger on you or buy an external battery. I called up Lenovo asking for a fix and they said oh no it's fine.

Secondly, it frequently freezes up for a few seconds, returning a "Firefox/MS Word/whichever programme you're using is not responding" message. This is not due to overload, this happens even when I have a single Word document open and the only fix is to wait for it to start processing again. I have wasted so much time waiting for this laptop to start working again.

Finally and most frustratingly, the auto rotate function does not work properly AT ALL. It rotates when it isn't meant to, doesn't when it is, and resists manual efforts to put it back to normal. As I write this on my phone, I am staring at an upside down screen which has interrupted my morning of email answering - I have been using it as a straight laptop and not rotated the screen at all. It just fancied going upside down for no reason. This happens intolerably often, and I have wasted large chunks of lectures trying to get it back into an orientation suitable for note-taking. As a result, I rarely use it in any mode other than as a straight laptop, and when I do I take care to not change the screen's orientation - putting it into tent mode to watch a film and then putting it back to a laptop to browse the net requires two different screen rotations, and navigating those can take a whole half an hour.

Its redeeming features are not all that redeeming: good speakers and keyboard, responsive touchscreen that actually works well with Windows 8 (though very few touchscreen-optimised apps in the Windows store), quick boot time. Overall, frustrating to use, wastes my time, and if I hadn't got it bundled in with my student finance, I'd be taking it back to the shop.

The idea is brilliant and the design quite good, unfortunately the combination of Windows 8 and this hardware really does not work. It becomes useless, the screen does not rotate when it should and regularly freezes and needs to be reset. Lenovo have failed to match hardware with e the poor software. 2nd negative lenovo review on here never again, with windows 8 nor lenovo........moving to a macbook ...well done microsoft best advert ever for Apple!

The performance is really bad, the screen doesn't rotate when it's supposed to, the apps for windows 8 don't work properly, the touchscreen is not friendly and the battery runs out really fast.

The range of ultrabook/tablets available has increased since I bought my Thinkpad but I have few regrets and my machine is in regular use. What is clear is that with Windows 8 there are two distinct roles; that of a traditional pc and that of a tablet and a ThinkPad satisfies both.

I enjoy being able to read the New York Times and the Economist in tablet mode and administer my website in the pc mode.
Windows 8 has a bit of a learning curve but the outrage about it seems to me unjustified. With a device such as the ThinkPad Twist it makes sense.
