Long Battery Life

Laptops are invaluable for getting things done, but they're also only as good as their battery life. We take our laptops everywhere and expect batteries to keep up with us. For that reason, long battery life tops the list for many laptop buyers.

Battery
Lenovo's Power Manager helps you get the most from your battery.

Lenovo's laptops are designed to run cool, which is one of the reasons they take little power. The less the cooling fan has to run, the less battery power it takes. (Smart air flow offers another benefit—it's a lot more comfortable on your wrists and lap to work on a cool system than a hot one.)

Power Manager

Lenovo laptops come loaded with Power Manager to help you easily manage your power settings. Just slide the bar towards the left for higher performance or to the right for longer battery life. Power Manager handles all the behind-the-scenes work.

Battery Stretch

Fight the dreaded "low battery" notification. Power Manager's Battery Stretch automatically turns off certain functions, like radio and Bluetooth, in order to squeeze out those extra crucial minutes of power you need to get the job done.

Battery Quality

We set above-industry standards for our battery suppliers, and we vigorously test the batteries that we allow in our systems for safety and for long life.

Been a computer engineer I am very impressed with Lenovo's offering here for the price. Super fast boot time, program's run very quickly due to the i5-2450m processor (runs as a virtual quad core). Not keen on the Lenovo bundled software (face recognition, battery manager etc as when you uninstall them device manager shows the ominous yellow exclamation marks - so this is hardware driven - naughty Lenovo!)

Overall I also use this for crystallographic data analysis and have to admit, it murders my work dual-core desktop in the speed of calculations (when in high performance mode.) Battery life could be better but I've benchmarked it against an HP-DV6 i5 and a Dell XPS i5, the Dell being £200 dearer. It crucified the HP and in performance the Dell only just beats it (due to the Dell's superior graphics card) but if I spent an extra £50 on the Lenovo I'm confident it would beat the Dell.

Runs games fine, the wireless n card is great, my only main gripe is the touchpad as I don't like them but plug in a separate optical mouse and all is well. Has a USB 3 port for newer devices and 2 USB 2.0 ports for anything else. HDMI out is a welcome bonus for porting movies straight to tv and thus far am very happy parting with my £420. Definately as fast as many more expensive laptops on the market.

I bought this laptop after having owned an IBM Thinkpad that served me well for several years. Thinkpads were always known for their quality and robustness. What a mistake! After six months of very light use we noticed the left side casing around the hinge was coming apart. On closer inspection we found a screw holding the hinge plate had dropped out, but we found it and re-fitted it. Now, after 10 months, the plastic locating lug into which it screws has broken off entirely - the plastic pieces fell out along with the screw. I cannot stress enough that this is a lightly used machine. Lenovo will only offer to repair the laptop under the original 12 month guarantee, and will not warrant against the problem re-occurring on either the other hinge or the repaired side. When I asked them if this is a common, known fault, they said it wasn't. Clearly that's a lie because Lenovo's own user forum has many customers flagging up exactly the same problem. I would advise others to avoid this laptop because, quite simply, the product cannot be trusted and neither can the company.

If you're looking for a good reason not to buy this laptop, google 'Lenovo G570 hinge'.

After 5 months the left hinge may break, as did mine. If you look on Lenovo's own customer forums, you will see this is very common. Yet, customers have typically been charged for sending their laptops back to service centres (waiting up to two weeks), only to be told the problem is not covered by the warranty.

It may be that many never experience this problem. I would say it's not worth the risk. If I could go back and buy a model by a different manufacturer, I would.

This is my first review in many years of using Amazon. Trust it.

When i bought this I was told that lenovo g570's are rugged and reliable computers, and that what i wanted.
It turned out however that the only part of the laptop that lenovo actualy make (the casing) is the weakest link!
One day I decided to pick up the laptop, thats all, and as i did i felt something give.
The hinge had broken away from the casing, maybe due to the fact that the lid doesnt actualy touch the laptop base at all (when closed) except along the front edge, making the dinky little rubber pads aroung the screen just useless decoration.
Once this had happened things went from bad to worse as every time the lid was opened or closed more and more damage was caused.
lenovo will not cover any of this on the worthless warantee, it will cost about 50 quid to send it to and from a repair centre and maybe 200 to fix all the damage! which i will have to pay haha! even though it abviously a design fault, which is obvious even to a complete computer novice, which i am not (having worked for DELL laptops for three years).
I can not sell this now - except for scrap.
I will fix it myself and keep it until it becomes useless.
Do NOT buy one of these .. or any lenovo stuff if the warantee is important to you!!
Just remember the things that make the spec so good are made by intel fugitsu etc and other manufacturers ... not lenovo - and so are all available in other, far stronger and more relaible laptops.

Bought a Lenovo G575 from Currys. After 10 months noticed the hinge is forcing casing apart. The casing is very thin compared to other laptops I have. Google 'Lenovo hinge problems' and it appears many people have this problem.
I never thought I should check casing quality on a laptop before purchase.

My Lenovo G570 came apart in the left hand corner after 14 months of regular but careful use. Yes, it's the hinge problem which seems to be a feature of these laptops. Google 'Lenovo G570 hinge' and you will see that it's a recurring problem and that getting satisfaction from the manufacturer seems to be rare even when it's within the 12 month warranty.
I won't be wasting my money on Lenovo products again.
