Excellent performance and good build quality make this an excellent value laptop. The B940 processor is more than able for day to day computing, and is a joy to use. Also, for those Linux fans out there this works flawlessly out of the box with Kubuntu 11.10 and Linux Mint 12.

I ordered one of these a few weeks ago from PC world and it arrived on Tuesday.

First thoughts on design are that it looks a lot more expensive than it was and I really like the keyboard as laptops can be a bit of a pain to type on due to the cramped keys, but on this laptop the keys are well spaced and offer a good amount of feedback for those used to typing with a proper keyboard, the separate numeric keypad is also very handy.

Spec wise it's very good for the money, the i3 processor and 4gig of RAM do a decent job especially when running Linux. There is also a model for �399 which has an i5 for those who want a bit more power.

One of the big selling points is the battery life of 5 hours+, this is a very nice feature for those who plan on taking their laptop out and about a lot.

The built in video card means playing the latest 3D games may not be possible, but if you are looking for a cheap laptop for general browsing, office etc then this is the one for you.

Beware, if the laptop has to back to Lenovo for warranty issues it will take more than two weeks, because their repair centre is in Germany. If their evaluation of the fault is not covered by warranty, it could cost more than you paid for it, if you do not accept this they will charge the shipping costs to and from Germany. Their customer service approach is the worst I have experienced from a laptop supplier.

The hardware is fine, but I will not buy Lenovo again because of their customer service.
