Lenovo G570 15.6 inch Laptop - Black (Intel i5 2430M 2.4GHz, RAM 6GB, HDD 750GB, DVDRW, WLAN, Webcam, Windows 7 Home Premium 64 Bit)

The Lenovo G570 is an amazing laptop, its super fast, boots up in under a minute, practically no bloatware on the system and has a good battery life.

The laptop itself will not win any awards for design, its a simple clear design without any flashy bits which you might get from some of the gaming laptop brands. The cover is the worst part of the laptop, its shiny black, which is a magnet for finger prints, not as bad as I thought it would be but still its a finger print magnet.

After opening the cover you will notice an elegant keyboard. The keys are spread out which is a bit different from other keyboards, however it is ergonomically designed and feels very comfortable. However if you become accustomed to this keyboard, you might feel others are a bit cramped, like my work keyboard which is a standard Dell one.

You will also notice the lovely brushed metal which is easy to wipe and clean. Its a shame that this brushed metal was not used for the cover, I would gladly pay an extra £30 for it, but Lenovo is obviously doing a balancing act here to keep some components cheaper to fund the fast Intel i5 processor, 6gb ram and large hard drive.

The touch pad is very accurate and easy to use. This maybe a given to some, but I have used some awful touch pads in the past. This one is also a multi-touch pad so you can use two fingers to zoom in and out or enlarge things. Its not particularly useful to be honest, good on google maps but i don't use it for anything else.

The screen is also very good, the resolution is good, although I have seen laptops with higher resolutions I find this one perfectly fine. The colours are also fine, but compared to my HD Samsung telly, the colours are a bit washed out. You probably won't notice this unless you are actively comparing it.

On the software side, i won't go into detail about Windows 7 64 bit version but I would like to point out that there is practically no bloatware on this system. It came with windows 7, internet explorer, google chrome, Micosoft word and excel and a trial virus killer. The only things Lenovo added was Lenovo games and Lenovo Veriface. Lenovo games is basically useless, I never play these sorts of games and Veriface works surprisingly well although I don't need it. I would have preferred a finger-print scanner which Lenovo offers on some laptops but not on this one, but again i don't need it.

Performance wise, you can easily have over 100 tabs running on Google Chrome and the laptop will run perfectly fine, in fact after downloading a cpu-gadget i found it used only about a quarter of the processing power although over half the ram was eaten up. But that means you can run 200 pages simultaneously.

On games, I ran Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition on it and it was running around 50 frames per second with all the textures and shadows and other options set to high. In the game it rated performance at B+. I did find it was not quite as smooth as the PS3, however, but then again this isn't a gaming laptop.

The bootup time is worth mentioning. In general it boots up in less than 40 seconds from a cold boot. Windows 7 does boot up quickly in general but I was impressed with the speed on the G570, you can also mess around with the settings to make it boot up faster although i haven't really played around with it yet.

If anyone is concerned with Lenovo quality, don't be afraid if you have never heard of them, they're not big in UK yet, although I have seen adverts on Taxi's in London recently.When you buy a Lenovo its like buying an IBM, since Lenovo bought part of the business a while back. They were voted online as the second best laptop manufacturer in the world, Apple came first, so it makes them the best PC laptop manufacturer.

In conclusion, its excellent and amazing value for money.

Very nicely built laptop for the money with a decent spec. I don't think the screen is as rich looking as a similar priced Samsung but it is still pretty good. I have taken a 1/2 star off for the slightly cheap screen and another 1/2 star simply because of the strange way that lenovo have partitioned the drive. At 750gGb you would think that a nice 45/45 split would be a good idea (with the other 10% split off for recovery and OEM). Unfortunately they have split it into a tiny 200mb system partition, a 14gb OEM partition, a main C: drive of 660mb which leaves just a small amount that they have split off as a small extended partition with a logical drive of 30gb. Because of this strange partition setup it means it is impossible to re-arrange the D: drive partition into a decent size (for use as a scratch disk etc)from within the windows partition manager, the user has to use the command prompt to re-arrange the whole drive setup which is hardly a user friendly simple way of doing things. Obviously if you have no use for a decent disk partition then it's five stars :)The case does show fingerprints but so did my old laptop so not a problem to me :)

I have a Sony Vaio which I absolutely love but as I moved base I had to leave my laptop with my better half leaving me in need of a good laptop with a high spec ... surprisingly for the price offered on amazon website for this laptop, the deal seemed too good to be true and I couldnt really miss it .... When the laptop came I was a bit worried as I knew you cant really tell how the feel of the laptop would be from photos etc . . . but I was in for a surprise ... the laptop looks MUCH better in real life ... in fact i think i like the feel of the laptop more than my Vaio ! Although the wrist support does get smudged with finger prints quite fast its a brilliant looking machine.

I had read in a earlier review that a person hadnt got what he had ordered in terms of specs . . . so was also worried about tht ... but I have got exactly what was written in the specs ... I havent yet loaded my heavy graphic softwares on the machine but will do so in the next week or so ... but with the basic softwares it seems like a fast computer. easy to set up ... didnt bother with the face recognition software cause u need good lighting and i tend to work with dim lights sometimes ...

only criticism i might have is the speakers r on the bottom of the laptop ... doesnt make a big difference to the sounds quality but does dim the sound if u have it on ur lap or on a laptop pillow etc.

would definitely recommend buying it for the price and amazon delivered it as promised on time.

After using the laptop for a couple of weeks I have realised there are a few issues which might I initially thought are teething problems ...
the Boot optimiser works during start up inspite of disabling it ! and further more after starting it restarts to complete final step which i found quite irritating ... planning to uninstall it . . .
also while installing new programs if u dont 'run as administrator' (this is when i am the sole user and administrator aswell) the computer just restarts on its own with warning ! most of the times after 75% installation is complete !
