5.0 out of 5 stars Great little machine 3 Oct 2012
Verified Purchase
I bought the 500GB version of this, running Windows 7, without the DVD or Bluray drive.

Since switching from Windows to a macBook a few months ago, I have found myself missing the practicality of Windows every now and again. Especially for when I need to log into work from home, I've never quite been able to get comfortable using a mac keyboard on a Windows virtual desktop. I love my chunky old-skool keyboard for extended periods of work.

So I needed an inexpensive, basic Windows desktop taking up as little room as possible in my small apartment.
This little gem fits the bill perfectly. I had it up and running, connected to my monitor, wireless keyboard and WIFI within minutes of taking it out of the box. No hassle or complications. It's very compact - my internet router takes up more space.

It has 6 USB ports, 2 of which are USB 3.0. I plan on making good use of the HDMI port for hooking up to my TV - I will update my review later once I get around to playing movies, Netflix etc on it.
It's a great machine for doing your basic day to day stuff like browsing, email, documents, logging in to work etc.

There's a certain amount of fan noise, but not loud enough to be annoying.
It comes supplied with USB mouse and USB keyboard, both of which look good quality. I haven't used them as I already have wireless mouse and keyboard.

All in all a great purchase for the money.

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent machine for home or office use 10 Dec 2012
By Ilias S
I use this machine for my office and so far it runs suprisingly smooth, it makes almost no noise at all and it serves me well for everything i need inmy office from printing invoices to formal letters, and for every other job.

So far i have connected to it a number of devices with no issue including a laser printer, a scanner, a signature processor, an external tv tuner card

Due to it's really small size its almost unnoticeable sitting behind the screen and it really helps to free up some desk space.

I would recomend it to anyone as its an excellent bargain for the price. You get a full featured desktop computer for the price of Nettop

5.0 out of 5 stars PC THAT DOES EVERYTHING REQUIRED OF IT 26 Nov 2012
By Otto
Verified Purchase
My Dell desktop pc broke down back in June.I was used to and preferred a desktop pc although I was not sure if I was going to replace it as I was relying on a laptop which basically did everything the pc had done.
Browsing Amazon I came across this Lenovo PC and I took the plunge and bought it.
It plugs straight into a 40 inch high definition tv and and with a wifi connection it was up and running within 5 minutes.Picture quality is amazing through a HDMI cable. Its tiny size means it sits unobtrusively behind the TV.
I bought the basic model without the DVD writer or player as I have this on my laptop.By installing a VLC player on the pc it will play any type of file in anycase without the need of a dvd player.
It is not the fastest pc in the world but does everything required of it.
My only caveat is that the description is slightly misleading as it came with a mouse and a keyboard rather than the hand held wifi combined keyboard and mouse shown in the description. However the purchase of a Logitech combined keyboard and mouse (for around 30)that is wifi means I can sit well away from the computer and still work it.
For under 250 I am delighted with it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ideal Media Player 17 Dec 2012
Verified Purchase
I purchased the Lenovo Q180 to use as a media player on my TV for my networked attached storage device. After 2 weeks of use it has proved absolutely ideal for this purpose. The Lenovo Q180 is linked to the TV via a HDMI cable and linked to the network by a power line adapter providing ample network bandwidth. Playback of video and audio is high quality with the flexibility of using you're preferred player. The Lenovo is quiet and unobtrusive next to the TV. It's also great for general computer use with the TV.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just what we needed! 11 Feb 2013
Verified Purchase
We wanted a small-ish pc that was good for browsing, word, excel, email, iTunes, spotify, photo editing & that sort of thing. It was to replace a hulking, slowly expiring, old Dell tower running XP.
Mindful of some dismissive reviews of it and other Atom-based boxes, I was a bit wary, however the laughably low price won me over.
Turns out it is definitely one of our Best Buys. It may not have the muscle of my i5 laptop, but it zips through everything we want it to. It is very quiet, cool, very unobtrusive (screwed to the back of the monitor) and does not attract dust too badly. With Windows 7, it plays nicely with my Windows 8 and I finally have a reliable print server. it has plenty of ports, I did not bother with their DVD drive.
I really recommend this to anyone wanting a dinky but very effective PC for general use.

4.0 out of 5 stars Mini PC 5 Feb 2013

I bought this PC to act as a print server for several photocopiers that don't normally support Google Cloud print. The device is mounted as a headless server on the back of one photocopier and connects via the network to upload and print directly from Google. Works great and is not taxed to do anything else, which keeps it simple and reliable.
