Relaxed, atmospheric, slightly Belearic beats that wouldn't sound out of place on any Cafe Del Mar album.
It's all very nicely done but it's pretty unoriginal- this album could've been made at any point in the last 10 years and there's nothing distinctive on it that'll make you remember Lone above the dozens of other artists that make music in this field.
Also, seventeen tracks seems generous but none of them are over four minutes long and some of them sound unfinished- it's more like a series of sketches than a finished album.
A nice try but not a classic.

The kitsch, unsettling photo (photoshopped) inside the CD sleeve of 'Lemurian' is a good indicator of the atmosphere to come: in technicolour, a row of hovering Hawaiian women dancing in traditional dress in front of palm trees and the sea, smiles all round; they're levitating, and have no legs... I had no idea about the artist who made this album, but picked it up after liking what I heard in a Brighton record store. The best album Boards of Canada never made. These tunes have been knocking around my head for weeks now. Phat, sun-kissed, hypnotic, and a little queasy...

I feel LONE draws heavy influence from Boards Of Canada, and simelar angular instrumental experimental hip-hop of Lukid e.t.c. Its nothing new but executed well. Its 17 tracks of sundrenched ethereal sounds with lazy (in a good way!) and hypnotic BIG beats. Stand out tracks for me are 'Sea Spray' 'Lens Flare Lagoon'
Fans of the aforementioned should not be dissappointed.

Lone cites Madlib & Boards of Canada has two major influences on his music. You can definitely hear those two in his sound.

Splendid, fascinating sounds
I agree with other reviewers that there is a nice touch of BoC to proceedings here, but Lemurian definitely has its own identity too, which is maintained throughout. Read more
