Product Description

Product Description

To make a cherry cake quickly on the table – no problem with the Leifheit cherry pitter Cherrymat. This practical device stones cherries as quickly as possible, whether fresh or preserved. In only one hour 12 kg fresh cherries or the volumes of 12 jars can be stoned. This is possible because of the special design of the Cherrymat. The cherries are filled into a filling bowl and roll one by one in the funnel. There, they are separated into stones and fruit pulp, without being crushed by the pressed down blades which made of stainless steel. The fruit can roll out into a bowl. The stone falls into a large collecting container, which stands on four non slip feet. At the same time the next cherry falls into the pitter. After working with the device it can be completely cleaned using running water. Leifheit guarantees for 3 years. Supplied by Leifheit, a major European brand of well designed quality houseware products.

Product Description

Cherrymat cherry stoner makes processing 25lbs of cherries per hour a breeze. Includes plunger and gasket that is fully replaceable. Easy to use and clean, a canning accessories every cook should have.

I planted a cherry tree 20 years ago and now its huge and gives insane amounts of fruit. But making a cherry pie or cherry smoothie was just not worth the effort of pitting them which took hours!
Have used the olive pitter/garlic press type before and it's way too time consuming and messy, and this is just light years better. THERE IS NO COMPARISON.

I was astonished when I bought this. Throw a handful of cherries in and push the plunger. KA-POP! - the stone flies into the plastic bin and the pitted cherry is ejected to the side. 1 second! unlike with the olive pitter/garlic crusher - no positioning the cherry needed, no messing about fishing the pitted cherry out and placing it in bowl.

The next cherry in the top slider has then rolled into position thanks to gravity, ready to be pitted. Push the plunger again. Pop... ka-pop, ka-pop, ka-pop - it really is that fast! ASTONISHING. About a cherry per second pitted!
You have a handful of cherries pitting in seconds. A Panful in a few minutes.

*Generally* it is that simple - more or less - and, as I said you can do a large pan full of cherries in a few minutes. But its not QUITE 100% smooth a process as that unfortunately. Yes, the machine does jam and cherries sometimes fly out unpitted.

However, I would not say the gripes about the machine are serious problems, they are niggles.

I know some posters have marked the machine down strongly because its not perfect but that's not right.
The bottom line is that you will pit huge amounts of cherries - faster than using anything else!!

So what are the niggles?

The first niggle is that the top loader only takes a handful of cherries.

Great product. Pits cherries easily and I had no problems with any pits remaining. Occasionally the cherries get a bit stuck in the bit coming out and need a bit of prodding, but other than that it does the job.

I mainly agree with @hardsaver and @elskelton. Who are these other people who have simply quoted the sales pitch!

3* It's okay. I bought one, had it two years. Don't know how it compares to similar models; I chose this one because it looked strongest and easiest to clean. It's a lot quicker than by hand but it does have niggles.

The second year, I filed the stone filter oval so I could do damsons, which worked quite well too. It can still handle cherries with this mod btw, if this helps anyone ...

Very variable results and just does not do the job. Agree with other reviews as this cannot deal with differing fruit sizes.

What a fantastic product. After buying a glut of cherries was not looking forward to pitting them so after a search purchased the Leifheit Cherry Pitter Machine. Laboursome job completed in minutes. When valued against a hand held device well worth the extra expense.

And all the recipes start "take 500g pitted cherries..." - nigh on an hours hard labour..! Well, this little gadget pits cherries with industrial efficiency, I've not needed to see whether I could achieve the 12 kilos an hour they claim on the box, but imagine it could well be done. And unlike some 'time-saving' gadgets where the time needed to dismantle, clean and re-assemble it outweighs the time saved, this comes apart and washes through very easily. A good investment if you've got a cherry tree that doesn't know when to stop (or access to a market which sells produce cheap if there's a glut).

For anyone who has a cherry tree or just loves cherries, you must buy this. 20 kilos in minutes. I would advise wearing an apron, as the juice will splash abit, but otherwise easy and the kids love to do it as well. I stone kilo after kilo and stick them in the freezer.
