This ironing board is like a standard ironing board on steroids. It's bigger and stronger in every respect and when extended fully, it stands a couple of inches taller than any ironing board I've used in the past and this literally takes the back ache out of ironing - I can now iron for extended periods without my back aching.

The ironing area is wider and longer and a steam generator iron fits comfortably on the rest plate. It has a thick foam underlay and you can really press down hard when ironing without fear of the board collapsing or your clothes being left with an imprint of the mesh frame. The cable holder looks gimmicky and I didn't use it the first few times but when I did, I found it to be very useful - the cord from the steam generator to the iron hangs suspended in mid air and therefore doesn't knock your clothes out of position.

It is expensive, but this is an ironing board that is built to last for years and years and if coupled with a steam generator iron it will save hours on the amount of time spent ironing.

Have just finished a mountain of ironing using this board and am pleased with the results.

I already have a steam generated iron so seeing that this ironing board was meant for steam generated irons I thought this was ideal to try out, plus my old ironing board has started going quite rusty underneath, this I think is to do with the iron I was using.

The board arrived in a plastic grey covering which contained a big brown cardboard box around the board, so if left outside at least it would not get soggy.

The thing I did notice straight away was the weight, heavier than my normal mid budget range ironing board and alot bigger in both length and width especially around the shoulder part when doing other half's shirts. I found this to be a good thing with it being wider at that part easy to do and alot easier to iron bedding (double size sheets and duvets). However if short on space and wanting to fit it into a kitchen cupboard it might not be for you. Great for a family sized load of ironing but a little overkill for someone on their own or elderly as a touch heavy. Might be a good idea if sizes or even approximate ones and weight of it were given on the web for people to see then make a decision one way or another before buying one, as they are expensive.

I tried mine on a tiled floor and did notice that even though the board is heavy and solid that it seemed to move slightly along the smooth tiled floor. The feet are plastic that look tough but not one to let a puppy nearby if teething, as could be an expensive chew. The part where you place your iron is a funny one to me, normally I just leave mine on the worktop but have tried my steam iron, a biggish one so as not to fall through any gap.

As you may expect from this product, it's quite bulky but it is an ironing board after all! Despite the size, it's not actually that heavy.

It looks bigger than it is because of the size of the stand for the steam generator, but this is actually quite useful as it allows the steam generator to sit quite securely on the ironing board - with normal boards it is just perched on the end and never feels quite stable.

The padding and the cover are quite thick so provide good value for money, and there is also a handy wire that allows the cable to be hooked onto it to ensure it doesn't get in the way.

I have left this up pretty much permanently and it wasn't too much of a chore, but I'd imagine that moving it every time you wanted to use it could soon become tiresome.

It's a good quality board for a reasonable price and ideal for a steam generator but it's still an ironing board at the end of the day!

I'm reviewing this from two angles - mine and my husband's. Where our reviews would differ is in how easy it is to put up - he thought it was fine, I struggled a little. I'm sure though that the more I use it the easier it might get but I genuinely felt like I'd been wrestling once I'd actually got the ironing board up into position! We don't have a steam generator so I can't add into the review about the weight of those products on this particular board. So, I finally got the ironing board up and my experience was a little better. However, during my wrestling match the safety rest for the iron at the end of the board had come loose and that was a challenge to get back into place and this meant I did my first batch of ironing with it, with the iron on the board. That should've been great as there's the cable to keep the wire out of the wire - doesn't work if you're left handed and even laid down as flat as it could be it was in the way. What I can say though is that the board is secure enough to have the iron standing upright on the actual board whilst you move the clothing around. The second time of use was fine as my husband had very firmly put the safety rest back into place - so at least you know this board can stand some heavy duty manhandling!

I had the board at its highest position and because of the width and length I managed to have a full trouser leg out on the table. I laid a t-shirt down to iron the back and I almost managed to iron it in two goes, rather than the 4 attempts with my older slimmer board. It felt sturdy, it looked sturdy and I was happy (as happy as you can be when you don't like ironing). I did miss a little shelf underneath to put my folded clothes on though and as I iron in the kitchen it meant I had to bring a chair in with me for the folded ironing.
