This is a great camera it may be similar to the Lumix and other cheaper cameras, however it is more stylish, beautifully designed, simple to use and has many added features such as a GPS system which automatically locates and documents where the photo was taken and a touchscreen for easier usage. It also takes fantastic photos and I believe the price is a small one to pay for a camera you will keep and cherish forever.

OK, let us get right down to the crux of the matter.
Is this the same camera as the Panasonic TZ20? Nope.
Is it extremely similar to the TZ20? Yes.

Now with that out of the way for the rest of my review.
This camera has been our family point and shoot for about a year and a half now. The build quality is absolutely sublime. It looks good although the red Leica badge is a little in your face.
Although it is similar to the Panasonic TZ20 one of the main differences is the firmware which does help it produce better photographs.
The zoom is amazingly good. You can get seriously close with it. For a point and shoot it is still brilliant. The battery lasts an age and I love the GPS tagging which is something I wish my DSLRs did.

The Leica case although an expensive purchase is also worth getting as it really protects the camera well.

Well worth buying!

This camera is exactly the same as the Panasonic TZ20, down to the last detail!
Only difference you get Adobe software bundled, even the case is extra at over £70!

Save your self a bundle, don't be a snob and buy the Panny.

Both cameras built in the same factory in Japan, imaging software, lenses, sensor, etc the same. The ONLY difference is the front case, which has the Leica logo including a different hand grip. Software you do get the adobe photo s/w with the Leica, Is it worth the extra £200?

TZ20 has an updated firmware (1.2)released 3rd August 2011. If you are considering the TZ20, try and locate the TS10 US version. Shoots Video at 60fps whereas the the TZ20 is 50fps.

PS: I bought the TS10.

"There are well to do people that wear Rolex watches, drive Mercedes cars and listen to Elac or Canton loudspeakers. That is the group that would buy a Leica. It is called class and that is often a misunderstood concept for some"
